Makes great slices - but watch your fingers
Once I stopped cutting my fingers (my suggestion is to buy the protective gloves with it) I learned to rally love this piece of equipment. I use it to make thin slices for pies and to make slices of lemon for preserved lemons. It works quite well. I have not had to sharpen it yet, but I've only had it for about 6 months max so time will tell.

OMG now, that's a mandoline!
OMG now, that's a mandoline! I owned an expensive De Buyer mandoline but was very frustrated with it. It was bulky, the thickness hard to adjust and the blades not as sharp as I would have liked. This Benriner mandoline changed my life! That's what a mandoline is supposed to be like. My first try was some large radishes, and it required zero effort to get paper thin slices. Easy to clean and to store. The adjustment is easy because it's just one knob (vs two knobs on the De Buyer, which means that you have to struggle to keep the surface straight). No wonder it is a professional chef's favorite!

The only mandoline my chef husband will allow me to buy
What can I say, this is THE mandoline. No fancy attachments, no fancy gimmicks to get you to buy it, it’s just a straight up mandoline.I bought this for my sister after accidentally purchasing her the musical instrument of the same name when I misunderstood what she was asking me for. I’m the music teacher, he’s the chef. It was bound to happen. When, looking for a mandoline to purchase for her, I had never seen one other than this brand, because I live my life around professional kitchens. All the other mandolines look like the Playskool version of this original device. Don’t compromise, get this one.No, this thing isn’t safe! What are you talking about! These things are for chefs, and they still cut themselves on them. There are guards you can buy for these if you aren’t a true chef who spills blood for the romanticized lifestyle the chef coat brings.Cleaning is a breeze, Storage is no problem, this thing is flat. Use it your own risk, and for the glory of the pro kitchen. 🫡

The great slicer
The materials and the sharpness of the blade is great. The only thing I miss from it is a scale of how tick the slices will be now I just eye ball it after a few tries.

Best mandolin ever!
Works well, easy to operate, and easy to clean! The only drawback is the julienne blades require a fair amount of force but if your careful and use the guard, it’s safe.

nice and sharp
my only disappointment... I thought since the ad said "Wider than most", I expected it to be wider than most. The one I received was pretty much a standard size. Great quality, though

no bowl notches to stabilize as you slice
love this mandolin. A literal game changer in your kitchen. I was replacing my old one, that you cannot buy a new blade for, but this one does not have notches for sitting it over a bowl. Which, for a blade as sharp as this (new!) kinda needs a spot to stabilize the mandolin over a bowl. So, if you go into it knowing that, you're going to love this. It gets 5 stars outside of that pretty important detail. xoxox and don't slice your hand!
