Can be usable with the right imagination....
a bit small, like doll house small, but I did find a use. I have Beta baby fry and sponge filters are a nightmare for me. So I have a 5 gallon tank filled halfway and I placed a Whisper internal filter inside the clear breeder/container still using the plastic fall thru to lift filter. It uses a med cartridge. Put it on slow flow. Maybe you can find a filter for your needs using the small size. Water is noisy like a water fall, but I don't mind. Helps my babies not get sucked up from using the bigger filter and keeps the tank cleaner.

Actually a decent size!
I bought this for guppy fry that were getting too big for the dinky little breeder box I already had, but were not yet big enough to move to the six gallon aquarium I had set up as a grow-out tank. (When you put them in too big of a tank too soon, I find that they waste a lot of their energy for growing while looking for food, exploring, etc.). This box gave them twice the space of the old one, maybe more. Very easy to clean. Like most boxes of this kind with the slits on each side, I don’t trust it to provide adequate water flow. For this reason, I lift it halfway out of the water once a day to make sure toxins are not building up in the container, and let some of the uneaten food and poo flow out. The babies were a little confused by this initially, but it doesn’t really seem to stress them out. (They’re only a couple of weeks old- at this point they just think it’s normal to suddenly have half your water disappear for a moment. What do they know? Lol.). I also put a wad of Java moss and some hornwort in there so that probably two-thirds of this was basically a jungle on their scale. I highly recommend putting plenty of plants even if you just use fake ones- otherwise the bare empty container will stress the bebbies out. Finally, I put a ramshorn snail in the container to help clean up- like having a Roomba under the high chair, haha. The babies were fine in this box until about three weeks of age. They are now in their grow-out tank and doing well.I have not tried this to separate mom from babies, yet. The next lady to go into labor gets to try out the new maternity ward. But I would not even try it in anything smaller than this because putting them in tiny containers stresses them out a lot. This one, with plenty of plants in it, is large enough that it might be worth a try. I’ll update this review after I see how that goes. But, just as a nursery, this is a great little box.

Great for Isolation.. Not for Breeding
This is a fairly decent product. My only issue is that the wholes are too big for my danio eggs/embryos meaning they can easily escape into the main tank quickly drawing more attention to the box and ultimately becoming prey.Once I saw the fish swarming around the box and saw one escape all I could find to quickly resolve the issue was wrapping a clear plastic shower cap around the sides and bottom. It helped but now I have a few tiny fry stuck between the cap and the box :-(Honestly, with the large, I wouldn’t even put a few day old black mollies in there. The box is great for isolation of bigger (youth/adult size fish such as mollies, guppies, etc) though!! Just be careful if you choose to actually use it as a “breeder” box.At one point, I even had black mollies eating the contents of the box through the holes on the side :-(

Perfect for guppy fry!
Absolutely perfect for guppies. I have had trouble finding something with small enough slots that the fry don’t fall through and this does the trick. I have 2 of them in a 10 gallon for my 3 females and it’s perfect. I also like that it actually fits together; some of the breeding boxes have floating interior parts and this doesn’t.

Fry swim right through the holes
I ordered the small but was not expecting it to be super small. It will fit in the palm of your hand. Even thought it was really small I still used it and thought it could work. But once I put the fry in the tiny box there were holes around the bottom and the fry just swam right out. The holes are way to large even the eggs fall through the holes. The lid that goes on the top does not fit snugly if you put it even with the water line. The lid will float up and off allowing larger fish inside and the fry outside. The suction cups hold pretty good, and stays stuck on the side of the tank. If you lift the tiny box out of the water make sure there are no fish inside because all of the water drains out the bottom holes so you have to keep the little box submerged somewhat in order to keep water inside. Even though I measured the size small was super small. I must have measured wrong. It would be fine for small fish like neons or small fish like that. I have zebra fish (danios) the box was actually to small for them to turn around in. The first photo is full view of my 20 gal tank with the little box in the middle at the top. The other photo is zoomed in. Not happy with the little box at all. Its cheaper to just keep it. My first order never came and I had to get a refund and reorder. The package did arrive undamaged and item had no cracks.

Perfect for guppy
This arrived not a minute too soon. I immediately put it into the tank and popped my prego guppy inside. Within hours I had 8 baby guppies happily swimming around inside. I transferred the non back to the tank and removed the floor so the babies could have the place to themselves. This is perfect to protect them from the bigger fish in my tank and will allow them to get big enough before transferring them to the tank. This is a must have if you have momma guppies in your tank.
