- The length of each ball is 90 metres/98 yards approximately and it is recommended that you use 6mm (UK 4 - USA 10) knitting needles for a 10cm x 10cm (4" x 4") tension square of 14 sts x 18 rows or 6.5mm (UK 3 - USA 10.5) knitting needles for a 10cm x 10cm (4" x 4") tension square of 12 sts x 14 rows.
