TOTALLY WORTH IT!
Ok I'll admit it. I didn't buy this for a child or a slightly older kid......I bought it for myself! I'm secure enough in knowing my guitar playing ability is ZERO. I bought this to literally baby step my way to shredding on an axe in front of a packed stadium filled with screaming fans and groupies throwing undergarments at my feet. Its gonna be great I tell you! But first I need to learn how to play the "G is for giraffe" song.Seriously though, this is literally a great way to learn how to play. I just started and I have had very few questions. It will teach you to play by reading music not tablature, nothing wrong with that at all, I just want to learn to read music. I am supplementing with some online searches and videos if I have a question that is not covered in the book. I would highly recommend that an older person learn to play along with a child, you will both get something out of it and the quality time spent together will be awesome. For old or young I recommend getting this book, If you are older you might take some ribbing from some folks, looking right at you my adoring wife, but to heck with them. Lean and enjoy. Even if I can only learn to play simpler songs, I still can say that I can play a guitar.

Great young guitar student book
This is a great beginner book for young guitar students. It begins with playing simple melodies before it progresses to chords. The CD is great for students to play along with to help them keep a steady beat. The illustrations are colorful and interesting. The songs start out with one line and then move to longer songs so students feel success quickly. Great book!

Picture of advertised book is wrong - no CD or DVD!
Looks good as a beginner guitar book, but no longer comes with the CD and DVD. Instead, you now get "access" to online videos and audio. If that's what you want great, but I still like to get the actual learning materials so that I own them and they don't just go poof someday leaving me I'm out a few bucks. The advertised product needs updated to reflect what's being sold right now.

I like this book
I like this book. It is colorful, simple, but has an engaging format for children. Some familiar songs are introduced early on, like hot cross buns and merrily we roll along. The cd may be a little fast, it would have been nice to have different speeds to practice to. The DVD is not super fancy but shows the beat in time with the music, also a video of the fingerboard while someone is playing as well as an animation of the correct fingerings on a diagram. I think it is a great format for a beginner to read music and pick out melodies on the guitar. I'm happy with it as a music teacher for my 8 year old son.

Good Beginner Book
Good beginner book, but adding pictures of the finger positions for each cord change would make it better

Great Book
I am a guitar instructor and I have used several different methods for young students (2nd and 3rd graders) and this book has worked the best! I love that they begin with note reading instead of chords. The colored pictures are wonderful and the exercises and songs are just right and move at a great pace. However, I don't really like the CD that comes with it, I found that it had a lot going on with it (multiple instruments instead of just solo guitar). Another interesting point is that this book begins with the G string and moves to the B string next, at first I was hesitant, but it seems to work!

Great Book!!
This book is really well laid out and really serves its purpose well. It is a great way for kids to learn to read music while they're learning to play their notes and chords on the guitar. It's also very easy to follow! I bought this one for my 8 year old, and I liked it so much that I bought the more grown-up version for my husband to use with his guitar. I'm also purchasing the rest of the book in each series.

NOT GOOD
I bought the Kindle version which does say that it has video to help you, but it doesn't say that it doesn't have the actual notes in the e-book. The music notation is only seen in the videos and is not available throughout the e-book. You're better off buying the actual book if you intend on teaching to little children.

Online audio
3 stars because this version only has the online songs/audio linking to youtube and the website is really difficult to navigate, especially if you want to restrict your kids’ access to youtube. It also has different versions of the audio, our guitar teacher has the downloaded version from another version of same book and that one is much better to follow for kids.

Not as described
Purchased as it mentioned coming with DVD disks which would have been perfect for my little one to insert into a player but not the case at all. It comes with online link to register for video tutorials and the website is not all that user friendly for children to navigate around which makes it a lot more hassle than a DVD. The book itself makes more sense with the tutorials so just abit disappointed.

Nice condition
This book came in a nice condition, having said that you can see it's second hand, it's a nice beginners guide, my grandson is 7 years old just got his first guitar, not sure that he will stick with it, he seems to like the book and CD,

Misleading advertisement
Product delivered on time. Unfortunately I received a different version. The book is advertised as the one with CD and DVD and I got version with links to online videos only. Has been mislead by the photo and description of the product which also resulted in overpaying for a book. There are way cheaper buying options available for the version without CD & DVD.
