Great case! My suggestion for insulating the fan connector...

Really like this case! I have tried two cases before, both clear. While I like the appearance of the clear cases, I wanted something with a fan because this unit is going to be my main media player (Kodi) and retro arcade emulator (RetroPie). The heat sinks are very effective, the fan fits easily and is quiet, and the case snaps together perfectly. I am using a Pi 3, but my understanding is this will fit either a 2 or 3 model. One piece of advice re: the fan plug: I've seen the comments about risk of shorting the adjacent pins with the fan connector. I'm a little bit of a neatness freak, so I came up with a solution that works well and looks good too. I cut a piece of heat shrink tubing (12-4 AWG) about 1/4 inch long. I hung that on the end of the connector while holding it sideways (wires running parallel to the ground), then hit it with a small BBQ grill lighter. After it started to shrink, I rotated the connector to get a full shrink on all sides. That size heat shrink tubing shrinks to about 50% original size, which was perfect to give the connector a snug fit on all sides. Then you push it down on the correct pins (as seen in other pictures), no risk of a short with other pins. See my pictures...I think this solutions works well, and looks good even from outside the case (via the IO bus slot).

Great case with heatsinks and quite fan

Needed a good case suitable for a fan and also was looking for some heatsinks and a fan.Very nice finding this complete package that contained everything I needed for my Raspberry Pi 3 B.Running some temperature tests before with the standard case and then in this case with heatsinks and fan the pi ran considerably cooler.Great find for a great price. Was very easy to install the board and place the heatsinks on the chips. Fan was very quite in the beginning but then got a slight whine to it. I can't hear it that easy so doesn't bother me but did bother others slightly when it was really quite in the room.

Great case for a great price

update: If you can find another fan for this case then I suggest you do. I've had 2 cases and both fans over time have ended up making an awful noise over time. Everything else still stands though.I was looking at heatsinks and cases with a fan and this one caught my eye. I never buy products with 0 reviews but the price of this I felt to be very affordable and the quality looked acceptable but I was pleased to say the quality of the plastic is better than I was expecting, and appreciate the the three heatsinks that came with it which are all pretty decent. The case snaps together easily to hold it all together, and the fan doesn't screw it but instead is held in place by plastic post which holds it together pretty well. It includes a heatsink for the cpu, ethernet/usb controller, and memory. The cpu and memory heatsinks are made of copper and the ethernet/usb controller heatsink is made of aluminum. The The flat piece in the picture for those wondering is a copper heatsink for the memory on the bottom of the board due to there being minimal clearance. The fan is very quiet but it doesn't provide a ton of airflow, but do not worry about that because overclocked to 1ghz and idling the Pi 2 was 29c and under load was at around 42c which is more than acceptable, a quick google search will show you that these Pi 2 not overclocked will idle at mid 40c and under load will hit upwards of 60c. Now you're probably wondering why I only rated it 4 stars. The thermal adhesive on the bottom of the heatsinks are not cut to fit very well so some of it was hanging off the side of the heatsink which is not a huge deal but its a small thing that should be addressed, and there are zero instructions in this case for those who are less than technical. If you're wondering where to plug the fan in I included a picture showing where its plugged in. 5v pin and a ground pin. If you're uncertain still google the pi 2 gpio pin out so not to short out the pins and break your Pi2.

Temperature differences with Raspberry Pi 3

The merits and drawbacks of the construction are mostly already covered in other reviews. I'll add that the fan isn't very loud, the case gives the Pi a decent weight to it, and the flat copper piece intended for the SDRAM on the underside is noticeably larger than the chip itself. I bought this for a Raspberry Pi 3, given its notoriously higher temperatures compared to past models. I took the time to measure the temperatures before and after installation using the built-in sensor and the "stress" program available via apt-get.Console commands:Scrolling temperature and CPU clock speed readout:while true; do echo $(date +%H:%M:%S) ',' $(vcgencmd measure_temp | grep -Go [0-9\.]*) ',' $(vcgencmd measure_clock arm | grep -Po "(?<=)[0-9]{3,}") ; sleep 1; doneStress test:apt-get install stressstress -v -c 4Bare (no case, heatsinks, or fan)Idle - 42CStress - 76CCase, no heatsink, no fanIdle - 45CStress - 83C (Throttled)Case, no heatsink, fanIdle - 40CStress - 69CHeatsink, no case, no fanIdle - 42CStress - 75CCase, heatsink, no fanIdle - 45CStress - 82C (Throttled)Case, heatsink, fanIdle - 39CStress - 61CThe CPU began to throttle above 80 degrees C. It appears that the fan has the greatest impact on temperature under synthetic load, while the heatsink simply spread the heat and seemingly not very effectively on its own. Indeed, just blowing directly on the chip brings the temperature down about five degrees. The combination of the fan and heatsink decreases temperature under load considerably. Combined with that result, the good look of the case and the price, it comes with my recommendation especially for the Raspberry Pi 3 if you don't intend on using the GPIO pins taken by the fan.

Great industrial style case

Perfect industrial case with mounting wings.

Does what it says on the tin.

no problems ONLY down point, it had to come from overseas since no UK stock. I guess that shows how popular the design is

Display NOT included! can not return with CanadaPost or UPS

mis-leading photo that makes people think it includes display, its only a cheap plastic case, returning it, waste of my time and hope.you will also have to pay first when you return, instead of CanadaPost or UPS, which is much easier, i would avoid this seller MakerFocus in the future.
