The time is set when you plug in. It IS NOT battery back up which is why I didn't give it 5 stars. We ordered another one and sent it back because we wanted a battery back up so when we received this one we were disappointed. However, when the power goes back on the clock will be the correct time.

I had already bought another large click but the display did not have color and is sometimes hard to read. Decided to buy this one for my mil too see if it was easier for her to read.She loves it and says it is much easier to read with the colored stripes and contrast.I only wish the display were larger and it ran on batteries.

I was very happy with this clock when I first got it but within a few weeks i started having problems with it.At first I could not use the color screen, so I just went to back & white .Then is keep and still does lose a minuet.The most annoying thing is the Hour and or the Minute displays go blank periodically.

First one lasted 9 days before hour and minute numbers went blank. Second one lasted 11 days, same problem. But this time I unplugged power and plugged it back in quickly. The correct time came back. We will have to wait and see how long it lasts. I expect it to fail soon, but I really like how easy it is to read. So I will give it a chance. Update 6-3-20, clock numbers went blank two more times, and whole screen went black, came back when i replugged it from wall outlet. I returned it for the second time and give up on this clock. The two that I have tried were not reliable.

Great clock; exactly what my elderly dad needed. But neither her nor similar aged friends could figure out how to change the time. Most stuff for the elderly seems to require a younger person to set it up.

I got this for my dad, who thought it was unnecessary. He apologized and thanked me for it. He found the med alarm very helpful. He is still unaccepting if how spotty his memory is so this was a major win!

Clock goes blank or numbers and letters disappear. does not keep time very well either. Chinese junk.

Numbers disappear. When they are there they are blurry at times. Very disappointed because we really needed this to work.
