My wife and I were having difficuties in our marriage and would argue daily about who's turn it was to boil the kettle. Now after buying this mug, I can have a hot cup of tea all day and my wife left me because I didn't buy her one or keep boiling the kettle to make her peasant tea in a normal cup.Win win

Fantastic, indulgent, gift for coffee drinkers
I like to start the day with a freshly-brewed coffee, which I make in the kitchen and take through to my home office first thing in the morning. I'll sip my coffee whilst checking e-mails and on calls, etc. Trouble is, I'll usually only make it through 1/2 or 2/3 of a mug before it's gone too cold to enjoy. This means having to wait for a good time to head back to the kitchen and, either, microwave my now cold mug of coffee, or make a fresh one. This is often easier said, than done, since I'm often on back-to-back calls or wrapped-up in something that needs my focus.Like others have similarly commented, I initially looked into getting an inexpensive USB cup warmer, but reviews were usually poor and I was extremely skeptical they'd be any good.I first became aware of Ember when Rishi Sunak was snapped with one, resulting in an epic PR blunder for the government at a time when the country was on its knees in the grip of the Coronavirus pandemic (I'm sure, however, that Ember were rubbing their hands together at the free publicity!) Although I could easily afford it, I just couldn't reconcile spending £100+ on something so frivolous, but did mention it to my wife as being something I'd love for Christmas. The big day came and I excitedly (sad, I know!) unwrapped my black Ember Mug 2.First impressions of the Ember Mug were that it was beautifully-packaged and beautifully-made in a way that's very 'Apple-esque'. In today's disposable society, there's just something really satisfying owning something that looks and feels so well designed and put-together. The mug, itself, is made of stainless steel with a satin-finish ceramic coating (it's definitely NOT plastic, as claimed by another reviewer). Despite being a thin wall design, the mug is remarkably well-insulated and, filled with a hot coffee, it remains only lukewarm to the touch. It performs extremely well and maintains a hot coffee at around 62C (tested with a thermocouple). One of my concerns, before trying the Ember Mug, was that 62.5C wouldn't be hot enough to really enjoy my coffee, but it's absolutely fine... hot enough that I have to carefully sip it to avoid burning my upper lip.A single charge is sufficient to get through 2 mugs of coffee, drank slowly through the course of a morning, which is absolutely perfect for me. If it does run-out of juice (indicated by the LED light bar on the mug glowing red), I just place it on the charging coaster and it warms back up quite quickly. The charging coaster is unobtrusive enough to keep on my desk, so I could simply keep the mug on its coaster for, indefinitely, hot coffee (although I suspect this wouldn't be great for the longevity of the battery, so I avoid doing that and prefer to rely on the battery, charging it once I've finished my 2 mugs of coffee).All-in-all, I'm extremely impressed by the Ember Mug 2... I use it every day and it's a fantastic little bit of luxury in my 'work from home' arsenal. The only criticism I'd have is the Android app.To be honest, an app for a mug is much like an app for a shaver or a toothbrush... completely superfluous and slightly ridiculous. However, if you're going to develop an app, at least make sure it's reliable and fully-functional. The Ember app constantly loses its connection to the mug and needs to be re-paired, which is a pain. However, the app is not necessary, other than to configure the mug to heat-up to a lower temperature (and I'm not sure why you'd ever want to do that).I haven't touched the app in weeks and I'm using the mug just fine without it. For the unreliable app, I'm knocking 1 star off a perfect score, but, in all other respects, the Ember Mug 2 is a perfectly-executed device and highly-recommended!
