A common helmet used throughout he Viking era, Spangenhelms are characterized by their construction, whereby steel strips called spangen, are used to join together steel plates thus creating the helm. Our models represent types that were used from the 5th to 12th century. Crafted from two welded halves of 1.6mm (16 guage) steel. The skull is reinforced with a 1.6mm (16 guage) crossband riveted onto it. The nasal is made of 3mm steel. With adjustable leather liner and chinstrap.
