Great starter mic with upgrade potential
Taking apart the gxl1800 it looks just like all the other mics that come out of Guangdong. Same tiny diaphragm. Same noisy Schoeps circuit. Same dinky desk stand that goes right in the garbage. It comes with an actual xlr cable tho! Anemic. But it's definitely an xlr cable and not half trs. Thanks CAD. Nobody else is doing that.I bought this microphone not to use, but to mod by putting a JLI 25mm electret and OPA Alice circuit in. Gonna have to print the saddle in TPU and either paint plastidip or stick PE foam mounting tape inside the metal body tube to hush the handling noise because of how thin it is. (while keeping conductivity to the base) I scrape a finger on the metal body and it rings. But for $20, it's more mic than I expected.Someone should convince CAD to switch to an op amp circuit, RF filter the XLR pins directly with two ceramic caps, and slap a cheap 25mm electret clone out of China in there from the factory. Skip providing the stand, cable, shockmount, and target the $20 market to actually compete with the xm8500 in terms of value proposition. Instead of a full color printed cardboard box, a carded clamshell case with open cell foam so we can pack the thing away after using it on a snare or vocals and toss it in a corner.

Great mic!
Great value, picks up sound well but not a ton of external noise. It looks great and works very well for what I need and use it for.

Didn’t work. terrible experience
Bought this as a gift for my uncle, and it was a huge disappointment. The product never worked from the start — we tried everything, but it just wouldn’t function. The microphone quality and sound quality can’t even be rated because we couldn’t get it to work at all.For the price, I expected at least basic functionality, but it completely failed.Tried to return it and was told no refunds, which was frustrating and unfair.Definitely not worth the money — poor build quality, and a terrible customer service experience. Stay away

iT'S JUST A CHEAP AMAZON CONDENSER MIC HAT SELLS FOR $12-15
Well, it IS a CAD, sort of. I mean it has the CAD name on it BUT it is merely a CHINESE 19mm mid size diaphram on the same old tired circuit board used in the $12 condensers that have been on Amazon for years and years. It's noisy, low output, has to have +48 phantom power and pickup pattern is where ever you talk into it :-( on the plus, this one was used with short stand, XLR cable, windscreen for $23

Cheap and noisy
I bought two and both of mine had too much noise (buzzing) to use as a studio (recording) mic.
