This book has been a lifesaver. I am a graduate student and I find myself reaching for this book very often. We all take tons of stats courses, but we end up losing what we don't use. This book is the perfect refresher. It includes example outputs and explains exactly how to read them. It also outlines the assumptions of specific tests in a clear and easy-to-understand format.Even better, the companion site comes with practice data sets. This makes life much easier when you are trying to practice certain statistical analyses and need to double check your work. I highly recommend this book as a supplement. It is worth every penny.

I took an advanced statistics course after forgetting quite a bit from the basic statistics course I had taken several years ago. This book was an absolute LIFE-SAVER!!! Pallant's explanations are quite easy to understand. She explains the statistical test, how/when it should be used, the steps required when using the SPSS program in order to conduct the statistical analysis, and how to interpret results. I couldn't have gotten through the class without it!!

This is a very good and useful resource for students and others using SPSS. Necessarily, it concentrates on the SPSS version current at the time it was published. It would be useful to those unable to bet the most current version to have footnotes or end notes that called attention to changes and/or ways to adapt to using other versions. Also, there are times that there are simple syntax methods that are actually easier to use than menus. Nevertheless, this book is an invaluable resource to help those who use software like SPSS only occasionally, or as a refresher to those once skilled who are not faced with newer versions. SPSS is a powerful tool for data management and statistical analysis, and this user-friendly book makes it very accessible.

this is a must if you are trying to write a master's or doctoral project. Step by step directions help you not only do the SPSS analysis but understand what you are trying to pull off AND gives you a structure for writing it into your project.

The instructions are clear and easy to follow. Thankfully, how to interpret the results are also clearly given. I was so grateful to have found this book and credit it with getting through the preliminary statistics needed for my research PhD study.

Really thoughtful and useful book, particularly for social scientists who struggle with statistical analysis or are new to the discipline. Lays out baseline parameters for selecting appropriate analysis based upon clear examples. Wish I had this book two years ago!!
