I used to love the old Devacurl Arc Angel gel (before the reformulation that removed all the protein). I’ve struggled so much to find a replacement that would actually hold my curls and give them definition for years since. The ones that had really powerful hold (LA Looks, Garnier, Not Your Mothers, Ouidad) had no proteins or amino acids that would help give definition to my curls. So I’d have hold, but loose and limp waves where I should have curls. Or I’d find one with protein but the hold would be abysmal and I’d end up refreshing my curls every morning instead of being able to go 3 days without needing to. I have fine hair, I need those proteins for my curl pattern to hold itself together otherwise as soon as the cast is broken they just fall apart.This gel is exactly what I was looking for. Protein galore in the entire line, but the gel is the perfect combo of strong hold and hella protein for my hair. It’s got a slimy texture almost that makes it a breeze to work through the hair and ensure every curl is covered and you can feel it forming a cast as I scrunch it in. It’s still workable while damp, but it’s really cool to feel it settling into curls as you go.The gel cast breaks easily whether you use bare hands or a little oil to break it up and despite it being a strong hold, it doesn’t leave your hair crunchy unless you apply way too much. Start small with this gel though, since you can feel that cast starting to form when you’re first applying, let that tell you to add more or not.I easily get 3 days of good curls with this gel before needing to refresh. If my hair wasn’t short right now, I could probably go longer if I wanted to. It locks your curls into shape and keeps them there.

The media could not be loaded. I’m in curl training so my curls aren’t at their premium state, but this is the best my hair has ever looked! I have a lot of hair, but it’s considered fine in the curly hair world (not kinky) so I have to use water or aloe based products. I have some stubborn strands that still like to stay straight, and this is the first product I’ve used that makes them curl a bit. There’s no smell and it’s super easy to use. Because it creates a cast (crunchy layer to scrunch out when hair is dry), you simply section your damp hair after a shower, rake through, then squeeze your hair up towards your roots multiple times then again with a 100% cotton cloth/ shirt. I then diffuse upside down my roots and then the curls. It’s a work in progress but this has done a marvelous job. If only the price wasn’t so much, but clearly I got what I paid for.

Good curl designer that makes the hair look shiny and keeps the waves and curls longer.

I tried this a long time ago before I knew how to style my curly hair correctly and how to use products. It was sticky and left my hair crunchy/gross. NOW that I know to apply products to soaking wet hair, holy cow this stuff helped my curls be so defined and bouncy without the crunchy gluey feeling. The hold is wonderful. After refreshing my hair mid week with some curl cream I was able to make my style last 7days! Will be buying again!

Super light and effective, Im almost running out of my first one so i decided to order another one and it ended up being as empty as my older one. The lid did not have a protective seal on it and spilled during shipping. Very disappointing.

I’ve been using the Briogeo defining crème forever and love it. It gives me super soft bouncy beautiful curls with a great hold. I ran out and accidentally ordered this gel instead. I figured I’ll try it… what’s the worst that could happen…😳 I got a great hard cast from the gel but it was unbreakable! My hair feels like I put GLUE in it. Not comfortable OR cute. I’m returning this ASAP to get the crème again.

This gel coaxes my coarse, porous wavy hair into pretty curls. Florida humidity does a number on my waves, and this medium-weight gel keeps it tame and mostly frizz-free. I use it with several other products, and if I run out of it, my curls are less defined and frizzy. It is the one product I can use alone and still be presentable, scrunch and go. No flakes, no scalp buildup, no irritation or dryness, light scent that quickly fades, leaves hair soft and touanle not stiff and crunchy. I continue to repurchase after getting a sample from ipsy.
