Q: I have a 9 year old Badger 1 that needs replacing, will this Badger 1 install just like the original one?

Not in all cases. I currently have two of these side by side. The new one has a 2 bolt flange with a 90 deg pipe coming off downward. The older one has a threaded connection that my plumbing attaches to. I'm currently searching for an adapter of some sort. My old unit is from ~2003 at the earliest.

Q: Blades and armature are free wheeling, but motor only makes a humming sound followed shortly by acrid smell.

Not sure I noticed that but I just know mine sounded like a freight train trying to grind a lime. Paid $100 more and returned it for a 3/4 Evolution which is quieter and more powerful.

if you cant figure this out you shouldn't be wiring anything
