Quality and long-lasting performance
I've been using this as a shaving mirror (in my shower, and on camping trips) for 5 years and it has held up wonderfully! It performs as described--hold it under running water for a few seconds and it doesn't fog up. It's GREAT!I would add that I wipe it down with my bath towel after each use and hang it up on the curtain rod so it doesn't sit in water between showers. (Per this last comment, I bought and gave this mirror to my children and their experience was that leaving it sit in water does slowly degrade a small portion of the mirror.)

Great mirror: I broke it, they replaced it.
Additional comments:After posting the review below, I was contacted by the company (see the comment - they also emailed) and received a replacement mirror within a few days of sending them my information. Fantastic customer service - I would order this mirror again with no reservations.I changed my rating to 5 stars to reflect my excellent customer service experience.(Original review below - was rated 4 stars).I was looking for a plastic mirror to use in a day pack - this is the largest "camping" mirror I could find that wasn't either glass (too fragile) or stainless steel (sharp edges and tends to produce a fuzzy image). The edges are a little sharp, but the coating on the mirror survived well (daily use, plus carrying in a day pack - have had this for almost 10 months). The protective coating on the back is starting to wear off, but the mirror coating has not yet been affected. That said, I did manage to break it - not while in a backpack or by dropping it, but when I was trying to wedge it into a tight place (twisting the mirror - this is what apparently caused the break; possibly weakened over time as I often do this to use the mirror without holding it).I'm ordering a replacement and will contact the manufacturer about the broken mirror (it never hurts to have a spare) - there just isn't another mirror out there like this one.

Great, but protect the plastic from abrasives...
It is definitely hard to break, but it is not particularly hard to scratch. A common failing with plastics and poly-carbonates. I took this along for two weeks of rafting in Grand Canyon. It stayed in its plastic bag, packed into my sleeping bag for 99% of the trip (only taken out a couple of times). It came out quite scratched, though still quite serviceable. Just to be clear, the mirror itself is in perfect condition, it is the material over it that is scratched. I can still see my reflection, it would still signal just fine. I'm just a little sad at how scratched up it is after so little use, mostly because I try to take very good care of my stuff (My Canon 40D and lenses have spent two months down there with no damage). I believe that this would be solved by wrapping it with a microfiber cloth, THEN sticking it in the plastic bag. Shoulda thought of that before...On the plus side, it really is featherweight. It is very sturdy overall. I also like that it comes with a small chain for hanging it from various trees, rocks, and such (not animals, they do not approve). The mirror feels luxuriously large compared to the little signal mirror I used before. So: Buy this, but also buy a microfiber cloth to wrap it in!

Daily Essential
Super handy and always good to have with you. I use it for back of my head visibility when traveling also. Made the mistake of leaving it on the back of a bathroom door traveling so I bought another one.Even had it in my bag when a bee decided to dive bomb into my eye. SO glad I had it that day.Don't put it in any obvious harms way and don't do what that finger cut person did which seems nuts to me.I keep it on the chain hanging most of the time. Not a huge fan of the giant sticker that was on the 2nd one I bought, but I guess it doesn't bother anything.

Didn't know it was socially conscious until after the fact
I rarely go out of my way to buy 'socially conscious' products unless they're in the same ballpark in price and quantity as 'Brand X', and the product line can explain in specifics how their stuff serves a greater good. Funny, then, that I didn't realize until after my purchase that this company employs personnel with special needs.I didn't notice, because the mirror was fairly priced and made strong, specific claims as to its quality. It was only after I received the product and saw the socially conscious rundown that I knew how this was made.Which is why I'm taking the time to write this review. If you're a guy you need a cheap and portable mirror, whether its for shaving or making sure your hair isn't messed up, don't feel forced to choose between your appearance and your dignity by using a women's cosmetics compact. This will do the trick on or off the trail.

A clear image that resists breakage
The plastic mirror has held up without breaking to several journeys. The surface is not as clear and sharp as a glass mirror, but if I had put a glass mirror through what this one has gone through I'd have seven or more years of bad luck plus broken glass to clean up. The image is plenty clear enough to use to comb hair or shave. I won't say "unbreakable" because I know that some people take that word as a challenge, so I will say this think is tough. I do keep mine in a cloth bag to prevent scratches because I think the softer surface will probably scratch easier than glass or my old stainless steel mirror.

Eh...
Wasn't impressed... the mirror itself is kinda hazy... not as clear as the photo shows.
