Q: Are the balls solid stainless?

I’m not sure whether they’re stainless, but the balls are solid and fairly heavy and sturdy, but they’re not uncomfortable to work with. I use them for dotting, and they work well.

Q: One of the images looks like there's a slight ridge at the equator of the balls. Is this true? Are the balls solid or hollow?

There is no ridge around these balls; they are perfectly smooth. They are solid and quite weighty. Very nice tools for the work I expect to do with them in polymer clay.
