Wanted a quiet fan and this one is
The media could not be loaded. A cooling fan on my desktop computer took a dump, so I went looking for a new one to replace it. My highest priority was that it would run quietly. The fan came with latex rubber mounting grommets that you just pop in the screw holes on your computer and it hangs there and runs with little vibration and is nice and quiet. Check the video... you have to be right up next to it to hear it running.

No disappointment whatsoever on that front
I was looking for quiet fans for an HTPC that I was putting together, and Noctua came up as a brand with a reputation for just that.No disappointment whatsoever on that front. When in operation, I can only tell that the computer is on by looking at the status of the 'ready light' on the case's face. The unit was easy to install. The provided extra length of power cable was a nice touch. Cable clutter is reduced by only having the extra length where/when it is actually needed.I built a low wattage HTPC and used the 'throttle down' cable provided. Even with the lower fan speed, the fans are effective enough that they are not switched on by the MB all the time.I expect that the units will last some time. The engineering/construction is so well done that I took one of the units prior to installation and gave the blades a flick with my finger. It spun for an impressively long time. The friction seems to be nearly zero. For the price point and the performance, these fans are the best improvement I have in my new HTPC vs. its predecessor.

SIMPLY THE BEST!
I installed these in a new home entertainment center. There's two high output power amps in a very confined and closed cabinet. Previously I had two 120mm fans purported to be very low noise. They weren't low noise. Compared to the Noctua 120s they sound like a cement mixer, nor were they adequately controlling the temperature. I mounted three of these fans at the top and back of the inside of the cabinet, positioned to exhaust air from it. There was already an opening at the bottom to serve as an air intake. I purchased these amps some years ago and the manufacturer's tech support said that I needed to keep the temp below 114 F, and that if I didn't the current replacement cost would be ~$12,000. The listening position is 14 feet from the cabinet, and with the old fans I could easily hear them from that distance. With the Noctua if I open the cabinet door and listen carefully I cannot hear these fans. The cabinet has not exceeded 100 F. I just ordered more fans to install in the adjacent cabinet containing the processor/pre-amp and TV set top box.

Nice quality silent fan — rubber fasteners could be better.
This is a quality fan. It's very quiet, even an full speed. It loast a star due to the difficulty of using the rubber "fasteners" to attach it to the case. It's almost impossible to use them as shown in the instructions and, and one of them tore while trying to get it pulled through the hole. Even with the torn fastener, it still works great.

KNOW YOUR WIRES
WORKS AS EXPECTED BUT I DID HAVE TO WIRE IT DIFFERENTLY THAN THE ONE THAT WAS THERE, IN ORDER FOR IT TO POWER UP WHEN THE COMPUTER WAS TURNED ON.

Extremely Quiet Fan
Insanely quiet. I do wish it pushed a little more air but that's the trade-off you have to make for such a quiet fan I suppose. Very professionally packaged. The only thing I really found that bugged me was how difficult it was to use the included rubber push pins. They were not stiff enough to slide all the way through both the holes of my case and the corners of the fan. No matter how hard I tried they never went through far enough to give the support needed to hold the fan up. I simply ended up screwing them down like a traditional fan as the included rubber corner bumpers help to dampen any contact noise anyways. Overall I am very pleased with the product. Well done Noctua.

Excellent quality and product
Noctua fans have replaced all over vendors in my computer case. These are excellent, reliable, and very quiet. They can also be made even quieter with the provided rubber settings and speed reduction. I run this one at full speed and it is low noise and best of all, not a ridiculous neon color emanating from the case. There's nothing wrong with case lights as such, I personally don't prefer them and am willing to go for something like this which is quiet, reliable, high performance but ultimately more expensive than what you'll find elsewhere. To me, this is worth it as I'd rather not have to replace a buzzing or stalled fan.

Noctua quality
I have a few other Noctua fans in the PC I built about five years ago, and they still work perfectly after daily use. None of them are this exact same low noise model, but even they are quiet. I went with this NF-S12A ULN on my new build because it wouldn't be a powerhouse PC and didn't need a ton of cooling.I used Fractal Design cases for both of these builds. The older one was one of their giant cases, and the new build was a mini case. Both cases came with two Fractal Design fans. One of the fans that came with my first case is starting to fail, as it makes a rattling sound at certain RPMs. The Noctua fans I installed when building the first PC are still running great after five years. I expect this new Noctua fan to give years of reliability. This NF-S12A ULN fan is silent, as you would expect for such a low RPM fan. I went with Noctua mainly for the long-term reliability that I've read about and somewhat experienced. My only issue with the fan is its rubber knob mounting option. I think the viability of these depend on the case. I used Noctua's included rubber mounts in my giant case build, but I just couldn't get them to work with this new smaller case without threatening to damage something. I know these things have to be tight to actually work, but still. I used the included screws instead, but even those seemed tight to thread into the fan mounts in my case. I figured the mounting holes would self thread as the screws went in, but it just seemed like I was using too much force. After it was all said and done, nothing was damaged and the fan runs great. I will still go with Noctua fans in the future. I don't care about clear panel cases and flashing RGB lights, so I prefer to go with a weird flesh-coloured fan that will work for a long time.

Bon ventilateur

Just what I needed
After reading many review sites and looking all all specs these are the best performing fans if your looking for low noise. I switched all my case fans to these and now watching a movie is about 30dba less than my old fans using the supplied ULN adapters. it made my case super quiet!

Just bought one of these and 2 14's for my new itx build in the nano s case. So quiet I didn't think my new build was posting... not even joking.

So Quiet!
Great fans. Could not believe the difference in noise levels between these and the pre installed fans in my case. So quiet and great airflow!
