fun and compatible with some magnet sets
This magnetic marble run set works well with a similar magnetic building set we have, but not with the solid block magnet set (see picture). The squares for this are about the same size and have the same magnet placement (one magnet in the middle). The solid block magnet set we have has two magnets on each side, which are not placed in the middle so they do not line up with this set. Having extra pieces isn’t really necessary, though. The tubing provided only fits into these pieces through holes that are not present in other sets. This comes with a booklet that shows many different project ideas, but they can be a little tricky sometimes since they offer only one view/angle. The pieces also fit together very tightly the first time they are used, so I would suggest helping with disassembly to avoid snapping any pieces. They do seem to loosen up with use. It is also not totally obvious but 4 of the clear rods are different than the other 4. It probably would have been better if they had made them different colors. Overall, this is a fun set and not overly difficult to put together.

Not age appropriate
The product says age 3+, I am 66 and my husband is 73. We were helping our 6yo granddaughter build it, she had no clue so we took over. Hours later we got one of the examples built. It might sound like we are dummies but the directions aren't very clear so you just have to guess what you are doing.I hope we can get the missing parts if we decide to keep it, it was from Santa so returning it may be touchy.

You from hell!
No written instructions for the various configurations pictured results in a frustrating exercise in futility.

Best for a little older kids
This is really cool and clever set! The first time I set my 5 year olds to build, I ended up doing most of it. It is definitely a few steps more difficult than your average magnet tiles. Once we figured out how they hook together and work, it became easier for all of us. Thank goodness there are instructions and pictures to follow! It takes some brain power to figure out how to build the mazes, so my little ones usually have my 10 year old or myself help.Once it's built, it really is a fun marble run!

really cute and the right amount of challenge
“Santa” bought this for our 3yo and with some adult modeling and little guidance our toddler was able to build and expolore new ways to make the balls roll. It took me a minute even to figure out how to connect things so there are no written instructions. I like that bc it really is challenging you to use your own imagination and problem solving skills. There is a booklet of ideas to create a well. Really cute toy
