Q: Can you run two aquarium heaters off this?

Yes, I'm running a double plug with two 500w aqua medic titanium heaters from the heating socket, which is rated at 1600w. Had this setup running for the last 8 months at a constant tank temp of 30 degrees for discus.

Q: Can this be used in a saltwater tank ok?

Yes I have it controlling the temp in my reef tank. You will need a heater though. Recommend the titanium ones.

Q: My chiller socket has stopped turning on when the tank gets sufficiently hot. Has anyone else had this issue?

Might be because the chillers own high temperature set point is to high. So it’s not turning on even when the controller switch has given it power.

Q: Does this item work with just a heater or is a chiller required as well?

Works with just a heater but does a much better job of controlling the temperature if you add a chiller / cooling fan. Especially in the summer months where you need to drop the temperature down a few degrees. That was the main reason I bought mine.
