Just ask sis the craziest Randy Rhoads fan I know!!!!!
An incredible album just as Randy was beginning. Personally we all like it better than Ozzy's stuff, minus crazy train of course, unless Randy had lived to keep playing in Ozzy's band-just ask Amaranth!!!. Randy's band here was initially called violet fox soon changing its name to quiet riot. It's straight 70's rock before glam and heavy metal. The guitar solos on some of the tracks are even better than most of the 80's greatest like Van Halen and Metallica. Randy at this time in the band was constantly battling Van Halen at the Whiskey in California trying to out do his theatrics. If you know of George Lynch the song "mister scary" was written during the Ozzy audition and after hearing George audition Randy waiting there said to him "Man you play scary!" meaning that Randy was really impressed. So he named that song after Randy's compliment. However Randy did win the Ozzy audition. This album is simply a smoothly eloquent, elegant and rocking classic rock early glam album. If you are a guitar player this album is a must-not even just for the song structures and solos alone- its a really fun album to take a cool drive and jam out listening too.

Sample of Rhoads' early work.
This album contains a nice sample of Randy Rhoads early work with Quiet Riot. It contains some retooled songs from their first two albums, some never before released songs recorded in the band's pop phase, and a live song (Laughing Gas) that reveals where the inspiration for some of Randy's later songs such as Dee, Goodbye to Romance and the beginning of Crazy Train came from. This album is an acquired taste. That being said, it is worth the couple of play throughs to get the feel of Randy's solos and to comprehend what the band was trying to accomplish with these songs. It is a "labor of love" for anyone who appreciated the genius of Randy's art.

Such an awesome hidden piece of rock history
Such an awesome hidden piece of rock history. Some of these comments talk about how corny this album is. Yes, it is corny. It's also pop rock from way back. The young man Randy Rhoads was an incredible guitar player. These are his roots. This is how he started out. Gotta understand; ozzy was heavy metal rock back then. Quiet riot was not. Even if I hated every song on here(which I don't), I'd still praise this album. It's where this amazing musician got his start.

If not for Randy
Then why bother? But Randy makes it special.I love Randy's music and I love it in this. But keep in mind its not Ozzy.Although, I think Ozzy's music is closer to this style than his Black Sabbath style.
