More great songs
After hearing several tracks at his recent album launch appearance I was already anticipating another great album and it doesn't disappoint. That husky edge to his voice which is otherwise smooth and comforting has lead to comparisons with other higher profile singer songwriters. He shows here again that his talent shines brightly with a varied collection of new songs performed with the able assistance of his talented backing musicians. Of the 11 tracks on offer the majority are slower paced numbers with Night and Day, Lady of the water and Keep moving on being particular favourites at the moment. The 'rockier' numbers are just as effective - Fire in my heart, Get what's mine and All the money's gone - but I was slightly disappointed when all 3 are faded out at the end of the track when there appears to be more in the tank! All in all another fine album. Just a bit surprised that he has not attracted greater attention after 3 great albums despite airings on radio 2 and endorsements by several well known personalities in the music business.

His 3rd great album.
His 3rd great album.. How could he keep up the standard of Dead Mans Suit and Sweet Defeat? Talent that has not been fully acknowledged cespite some exposure on Radio 2. Instantly recognisable and some powerful tracks that linger in the mind all day, such as the title track, Deep River, Hummingbird Blues and Lady Of The Water. Jon Allen is in my top drawer now with Amos Lee, James Taylor, Jackson Browne and Tom McRae as artists I never tire of hearing, bring on your next one Jon, and thanks for Deep River.

Buy them, buy them all
This guy hasn’t released a bad song on any album. Deep river continues in this vein. I saw him on the tour for this album in a little 400 capacity venue in Sheffield and it remains one of the best gigs I have ever seen. His band are incredible. Super talented top quality musicians. Jon himself is a genius song writer with a fabulous voice. Buy them. But them all. He’s heads above the rest

but a fantastic voice and great songs
Pure impulse purchase, but has been played many times since. Yes, there are echoes of other performers, a bit Paul Simon, a bit Rod Stewart, but a fantastic voice and great songs. You will not be disappointed if you splash the cash

Another great album
I saw Jon Allen live a few years ago when he supported Seal. Loved him on stage, bought his Dead Man's Suit there and just recently realised he's released two more since then. I bought them for myself for Christmas and particularly love Deep River. Jon Allen is a fantastic song writer and I just love the sound. He's been compared with Rod Stewert - that's a bit harsh in my opinion - Jon Allen is way better. I'm not sure why he is not better known - I prefer him to so many other artists who are out there...
