GoProHERO4 BLACK

I've had slight love/hate relationship with this GoPro, but it could all be down to being unlucky..I'm now on my 3rd GoPro Hero4 Black Edition, after returning the previous two due to similar hardware/software issues. They would work great for the first month, but after some simple usage, would not record properly to the SD card (It would record a green, flashing, screen, with distorted audio, and sometimes no audio). I have three, GoPro recommended, SD cards that I tested with the faulty GoPro's to ensure consistency.You might be wondering why I've given 5 stars after these issues. Well the GoPro customer support is absolutely outstanding. Probably the best I've ever dealt with. They get right to the point, and if your problems are unsolvable, have no qualms about sending you a new device in an expedient fashion.The GoPro itself is fantastic, and I love recording @ 120fps to get the insanely smooth slow motion effect on the videos once editing. Produces wonderfully crisps quality @ 4k & 1080p. I'd suggest however, that it only be used for activities, sports, and any action-type moments. Trying to use this to capture to beautiful architecture of a city is not the way to go, as the nature of the fish-eye lens makes the buildings seem too far away, even when up close. May seem pretty obvious, but I learnt the hard way after a trip to Rome!

Haven't looked back. What an amazing piece of kit. Managed to pick it up on a lightening deal early one morning.Great wide angle to capture a fantastic range. Yes there is no view finder but you learn to trust the unit, point and click and the huge wide angle captures what you were after and more with ease.Easy to use. Rugged Managing to survive sea, winds and children. No issues fogging up with ours after a good few months of use mainly in water. I know this can be an issue and little anti fog strips are available.So many adapters and ways to attach it to so many things. Working our way through many of the options.I was lucky to get this on a seemingly rare Amazon Lightning deal and was happy to snap up the camara for the deal price. For the amount of use we have got from it and the fantastic images and memories we have captured it has defiantly been worth it.

I am no video expert but this camera is great. It's easy to use and the video quality produced is simply excellent. The integration with PC's, tablets and phones is excellent via well written and useful apps. The shear flexibility of video modes is great giving multiple options for resolution, framerate and FOV as well as clever features to help capture the "right" moments. The wide FOV modes are awesome for filming action - even when moving point the camera in broadly the right direction still gets what you were trying to record - you may not win an Oscar for your cinematography but you won't miss what you were trying to film!There are loads of accessories available out there for it enabling lot's of creativity in terms of filming.I was slightly surprised by the battery life, however. It is shorter than I expected and I'd recommend getting a spare battery if you plan to try to capture on than about 20 minutes of footage at any given time.

The only plus was that the camera came a day before the earliest delivery date.I was looking forward to getting to grips with this camera but it wouldn't power up with the battery in, with the usb lead attached to a charger or the computer and trying a different usb lead. It was as dead as a dodo, no sign of life what so ever. Totally disappointed after spending that amount of money. Contacted go pro, who I've sent it back to but now will probably have to wait two to three weeks for a replacement. After doing a but of research it would seem this camera has issues, at the moment I feel it is a regrettable purchase, maybe time will tell. I would have given no stars but they will not let you leave a review with a no star rating.UPDATE.Recently received my second camera direct from GoPro. Serious issues with WiFi. When I try to turn wifi on the blue light flashes then goes out, when you look at the onscreen display it shows as being on but no flashing blue light. I then try to connect to the app on my phone without success it cannot detect the camera. This is now a frustrating experience with a very expensive camera.I have contacted GoPro and are waiting for a response. I am running on the latest version for this camera, I do hope this review is shown as it isn't appearing in my recently reviewed items.Update to follow.I have had to send my second camera back to GoPro. Another 3 weeks at least without my camera. Since I purchased this camera mid January, I've only had two weeks use and without WiFi.I have lost faith in this very expensive camera with its poor reliability, any problems with third camera and it's a full refund for me.Clearly this camera has not been field tested and if it has its being sold knowing its faults.UPDATE TO FOLLOWReceived my THIRD camera from GoPro, right from the outset yet another problem, the looping settings will only record in 5 minute clips no matter what setting you select in the menu. Phoned GoPro and expressed my displeasure especially at the cost of this camera and was told I've just been unlucky, I explained that there are plenty of unhappy customers not only on Amazon but across the internet.Number 4 camera on its way.

cant fault the quality. Im finding myself taking movie stills as photos, its that good. its a tool that suits exactly what its made for. i still wouldnt give up my sony camcorder or camera but stick it in your pocket when out with the kids and you get some great shots you would normally miss. the thing i cant get over is the battery. It doesnt seem to bother others but every time i want to use it, it seems i have one bar left (using the original gopro too). Mind, replacements are cheap to buy. theres no difference in the 4 pound no name brands so i can carry the power needed for the day but when its all connected up, its a pain to change the battery throughout the day.
