UNIX and Linux System Administration Handbook

Very handy reference book
This book is very handy for reference. For context I am not a UNIX or Linux System Administrator, I am a Peer Mentor in the NHS with a Masters in Intellectual History. I am learning, and to have a nice clear, cogent, readable explanation of the various command line programs for managing servers has helped me enormously with my Raspberry Pi and VM projects. I have a particular interest in operating systems and the human node machine interface and this book is lovely. Also the art is very cool, and it is throughout the book!

Essential book for every Unix/Linux user
Very thorough book that explains all aspects and concepts of Unix/Linux environment. If you are starting with Unix-like systems this will be great read to begin with. Noticed some seasoned Unix/Linux admins use it also as a reference book on regular basis. Absolutely recommending this book.

Best book ever
OK, so the subject of this book is administering Unix an Linux computers; granted a very important thing these days. But, far from being dry and prescriptive, it's written in a brilliantly human, passionate way that's entertaining and persuasive without being patronising. Glorious

but it was so pricy that this happened only after 3 years of getting introduced to it from one of the Uber system administrators
This is a true bible for any Linux guru. It does starts from very basics, and even those basics are something I never thought about. Whole introduction section is worth a medal! I've wanted to buy this book long time ago, but it was so pricy that this happened only after 3 years of getting introduced to it from one of the Uber system administrators.

This is so well-written!!!
I'm amazed how weel structured and written is this book. As an absolutely newbie in the Unix/Linux world I thought this book will be full of terminology making it incredibly hard to understand and smootly processed. But it turned out the authors, although, mentioning in the very begining of the book that a prior understanding of how Linux/Unix OSes work and their philosophy, I found it quite amuzing and understandable without going too deep in the low-level implementation of the system functionality and yet explaining in a lot of details how and why certain things works and are used. I would definitely recommned it to anyone who wants to enter and develop good skills of system administration in Unix/Linux environment.

Must have
Indispensable for any ops peeps. Most books are dry and boring. This you can pick up and actually read it. Plenty of examples, scenarios, etc... You will always learn something. You open anywhere and dive it.The most I've ever spent on a book and best money I've spent in career. Long time sys ops peeps swear by this as a bible.

A must have book on your tech bookself!
Although I had this book's previous edition and wasn't expecting to acquire any relevant new knowledge I'm happy to admit I was wrong. This edition focuses more on what's important for system administration today - cloud etc. I'm glad that all exotic minor UNIX systems (ie. HP/UX, AIX etc.) have been left out. Good reading, I recommend buying it!

Great book
This will answer many questions, it's great for both learning and as a troubleshooting reference. If you don't find your answers here, chances are you'll at least be pointed in the right direction.

This is "the" Unix-Linux tome for IT-Pros.
Easily the best tome on the technical and practical aspects of Unix & Linux, and it's up to date if youpurchase the latest edition. This book is aimed squarely at admins, developers, managers of Unix-Linux shops and apps. It's not a tutorial; it's a comprehensive study of the Unix-Linux architecture and everyfacet of that subject. Additionally, the author's have an established sense of humour about their area of expertise, that makes for some interesting reading, to say the least. If you're already an IT Pro or you're a student heading for a career in the business, you'll want this title close by for a long time. And if you're tired of plowing thru search engines and thousands of snips/pages, and the sometimes arcane 'man' pages from your distro, this book is going to give you the organizationthat you'll retain for a long time. Well worth the high price; it's just so inclusive as to plow many other publications on the same subject, into the ground. And if you're strictly a Linux user, that doesn't matter; this is your reference. You don't always need to read the chapters in sequence. This book is written so each chapter can almost stand on its own as a separate publication based on the material it covers, though the authors are generous in their inclusion of cross-references to other chapters covering related material. Get it before it goes out of print. If the paperback copy is too pricey to fit your budget, don't forget that the Kindle edition at half the price, (for which you don't require a standalone Kindle reader), can also be stored and read on Amazon's web site for convenience and portability, as part of your purchase.

Fast delivery and in good condition
Very fast delivery; the book arrived in good condition. Content-wise, the book might not be for beginners, but for those who have proficiency in Linux, that book is the bible. It covers not only Linux but adjacent concepts involving Linux, such as virtualization, CI/CD, and cloud. I highly recommend the book and the vendor.
