4 probe reader - has some quirks but pretty good.
i wanted a multichannel thermocouple thermometer for testing random things. This thermometer has 4 thermocouples that it can read from simultaneously. It has a few quirks i'd like to call out. But first this is what you get:You get the reader, 3 AA batteries, 4 k-type thermocouples, manual, USB A to Micro cable, and a case. The unit has a decent amount of features including Auto Power Off (APO), upper and lower alarms, probe compensation adjustment. Each probe is 38" in length, not including the yellow connector. The unit weighs 9oz (256g). The bottom of the unit has a1/4" mounting screw for use with a tripod. The USB cable is ~5' long. For alarming it has an audible beeping sound, flashing red light and on the screen the probe number and "HI" will flash also. Each probe can be configured with a different alarm setting.Onto the quirks:1. The reading interval is dependent on how the data is being stored, if you are using the reader (with no computer attached) you can set it to the fastest interval of 5 seconds. The unit can store internally 5000 points, so at 5 seconds, you can get about 7hrs worth of data, with all 4 readings.2. If you are connected to a Windows computer and have the software linked, then you can read in 1 second intervals and basically unlimited time.3. The data can be exported if you can connect it to the app, which is Windows only. The data can be exported in a CSV file, and you can export the charts. The CSV has some chinese characters, not sure what that is about.4. You can't export data directly to a usb drive or do a direct file transfer from the USB port. you need the app.5. When sampling using the windows app, do not change the unit of measure (C/F), as the app will not re-render properly, so make sure you pick your preferred UOM.6. There is no Real time clock on the device. If you sample while plugged into a computer it will record the time from the computer and you have a nice date/time stamp.if you record without a computer, It does not record the date/time per sample. The epochal time of start is on you, so record when you start recording or when you stopped.7. By Default the unit will be in Automatic Power Off mode. If you need to run it for more than 15 min, you will need to disable that function. The recordings will be wiped if it is powered off. Also there is no way to permanently turn off APO.Definitely read the manual before using it.Aside from those quirks, i like it. It makes a lot of sense the more you use it. Id give this 4.5 stars, as the software could use some updating. I'll round this up to 5 since i can't do half stars.

Confusing
This is a nice machine that works well and seems to be accurate. I do have a couple of issues though.Theres a record option here that i can't figure out how to use. I start record, but when I come back to the thermometer, it's turned off like an auto-off feature is active. When you turn the unit back on, the recording is no longer there, the min/max temps have been reset. Not sure why this works in this way.the description also shows a max that far exceeds what I needed it for. But yet, out of the box this unit doesn't work this way. In order to get the max temps advertised, you must buy a different thermocouple. They can be had for less than $10, so why are they not included if that is the temp range advertised with the unit. They are very cheap to purchase for me, so im certain the company probably can have them for $1. better thermocouples should be included.I do enjoy the fact that you can set up 3 probes to be monitored simultaneously, the buttons and machine feel great and for the most part, it's easy to understand and work. Its a great machine, i just wish the more in-depth things were easier to understand and that they threw in the better thermocouples that actually would provide at least close to the temps advertised.
