I had one of the old square manual graters and it broke when I was using it, so I figured if I had to replace it I was going to get one that does the work or me. This one works great. So far I have only used it to shred cheese, but it will tear through a block o sharp cheddar with ease. The opening to the top feed is a little too small to fit the whole block in (I get the large blocks) so I had to cut it in 4 pieces, but other than that it works like champ. Super easy to clean, all the parts can go right in the dish washer. No problems or complaints so far.

I was sceptical but this machine had good reviews. It is good for grating softer cheeses like mozarella. The motor sounds like it is struggling but I reimnded myself this is not a food processor. It is so easy to clean, very stable when operating, and does the job. One thing I would have liked is a longer slicing blade so when slicing cheese it would then not shred the cheese while slicing. It is better than the others because the blade is permanently mounted in a holder. Other units require insertion of these cheaply made blades that have tabs to secure them in the blade holder. It will not last and it is not easy to insert blades into holder. This unit is good for cheese grating and slicing.

If you don't have one definitely get one! The cheese grater is an absolute dream. Plus block cheese melts so much faster then getting grated cheese from the store.

Absolute garbage & unsafe. The motor doesn't have enough power to shred cheese without crushing it. Then it won't unlock because crushed cheese smear pieces block the rotation of the unlocking mechanism. There is NOT even enough motor power to push out vegetable shreds via centrifugal force for cut pieces to flow into a bowl. You must turn machine off & use a fork, etc to pull it out of shredded area into a bowl. Even pieces of vegetable will prevent unlocking! You must get whatever is blocking out, which is by the blades. I hate this product! It should be launch into the sun!

I bought this to make it easier to finely grate 16oz of cheese for making pimento cheese. In order for the cheese to incorporate well with the other ingredients, it needs to be very fine. This machine doesn't quite get there.I gave it 4 stars because it probably works well in other applications, however, it does sling the grated product which, in my opinion, is a design flaw. Also, the feeder shoot is smaller than it needs to be.

really love it till the 2nd time i used it the barrel that holds the blades is plastic and it broke so yes i have to relpace it already but it needs to be metal sorry i bought it now because of this

can't wait to make some chips too !!! goodbye doing it by hand !!!

Wished I ordered it earlier. The only negative would be you have to use both hands. One to hold the button and the other to feed the cheese through. Highly recommend it. Beats shredding the old way.
