Battery powered!!
After having a lithium battery fail and start smoldering in a 3 year old "10 year lifetime battery" detector, I purposely shopped for one the takes good old batteries.

Many false alarms in first month
The media could not be loaded. Purchased 2 KIDDE alarms, model 20SDR. Installed 1/30/25, followed placement instructions, one in hallway outside master bedroom, one at top of stairwell. Getting repeat alarms. Kitchen is 30 feet away but had to start closing kitchen door for any heated meal (never had to do that with other alarms). The real problem is I can't shut them off! The hush button rarely works as user guide instructs. This afternoon (3pm, 3/6/25) both alarms went off within minutes of each other, though no fire and kitchen door closed. I physically moved one alarm near open window and put another under a blanket. They eventually stopped but red light stays on (no green light). I'm stumped. Need to try another brand.
