Great trip back in time for Retro fans looking for an easy plug-n-play experience out of the box!
I can't say enough about this little workhorse! For $60 you get a dedicated MAME-based emulation system that works out of the box with little setup. It comes with 90 built-in arcade games plus two 10 foot wired USB super-Nintendo style controllers that are just fine (I did replace mine with a PS3 style USB generic which works just as well for games best suited for analog control) and the best part is it uses an HDMI connection to your TV for a good easy hookup and clear image. Plus the HDMI cable is included as well! For those looking for more games the best little secret is that with an optional SD card you can also load into the rear SD card slot hundreds of other MAME compatible arcade roms or NES, SNES, Genesis, GB, GBC, or GBA roms for literally HUNDREDS of games all on a little card! I purchased a 32BG card for about $12 here on Amazon, but I only use about 6 or 7 GB for my collection so you can get away with about an 8GB SD card to house all of your favorites. Most hardcore retro gamer fans swear by the Raspberry Pi 3 B+ or similar machines for their emulation and yes, that system will give you far more flexibility in the systems emulated and a wider array of games, but you need to actually build those systems because they are sold as kits. That tends to appeal to the electronics enthusiast and those building stand-up bar machines from their Pis, so more power to them! So unless you are comfortable literally building your system, this might be a better option for the beginner or the casual gamer. The Super Retro-cade should appeal to those that have a fondness for classic gaming and want to forgo the complicated construction/setup of a Pi and want to just start playing right out of the box. It's been with me for several weeks now and I play it every day. It plays games made up to about the mid-nineties with its built-in MAME emulator, so don't expect PC games or systems except those listed above. Online communities are picking up support for this little gem on FB and elsewhere so start there to see some hands-on reviews and tips on making the most out of the system.Sadly, there are not many specs that are offered with the limited documentation that comes with it to see what's under the hood and most roms' working state is going to be hit or miss by trial and error, but I have found a great assortment of titles that I'll be lucky to get to. For what it is though, and at $60, it is highly worth picking up for literally hours of nostalgic fun.

i thought this was a terrible selection of games
Of all the games available , i thought this was a terrible selection of games. Is good for a kid that has no idea what s going on. Me , I like maybe one or three games of the ninety games available. Just one time I play and that was enough. If you looking for a gift for a first timer, then this will be OK. For the rest I stay away!!! I will not even bother for collection purposes either!!!

Updated version of the December 2017 Super retro-cade console
I bought this because this was the newest version of the Super RetroCade from December and I'm very happy with the improvements that they made compared to the older version of the Super RetroCade. So, let's start with the good.1) All of the control issues have been fixed.2) NEW FEATURE: Video Smoothing. I just like seeing new things LOL3) New Games! I'm happy that they put the 2 other R-Types on this console. I also like the 2 shoot em up titles and Two Crude Dudes is pretty fun too!4) The choppy Frame-rate for Super Burger-time and NES Strider were both fixed5) When you save the console games the game automatically pausesSadly Cobra Command isn't on this console anymore and it was a shoot em up which I like but having 2 R-Types does make up for it. Hopefully they can fix some of the choppy frame-rate for the other games except for the one's that were added to this version because when a firmware update occurs and the update adds new games you can't expect them to work properly without feedback and I think they did a great job emulating the newer games. I would highly recommend this item to anyone who likes older games. PLUS you get a carrying case which is awesome if you want to play it on the go.

Beware, no carrying case included (both orders)
Note: Overall, this is a nice retro game purchase that is worth picking up. I deducted 2 stars due to the misleading listing (no carrying case included in my original and replacement orders). I typically don't factor in unavoidable shipping issues (product delays, damage in transit, etc.) and only rate the quality of the product itself. However, this listing is flat-out misleading, and I didn't want another buyer to go through losing time dealing with the return and refund process like I have.Review: This is a really neat retro game system, with some rather rare games finally making a console appearance (Boogie Wings being a neat inclusion). Game selection is rather good for the price, and you are able to add your own games via the SD card slot on the back. There's something for everyone in the included games, and the price-to-game ratio is an excellent value. You can assign new button arrangements on a per-game basis (yes!), as well as set the screen ratio from 16:9 to 4:3. The screen ratio setting is on a per-game basis, so you'll have to choose it per game. The system saves all of your settings, so you'll only have to do it once. The controllers are, as others have said, surprisingly comfortable. I liked the concave Y and X buttons and convex B and A buttons (similar to SNES controllers), a fairly responsive d-pad (which I had to press a bit harder to go right on both controllers I had - some break-in may be necessary). Gameplay-wise, I didn't detect any input lag from the controllers or games. I played on a low-latency portable 15.6" monitor, and everything displayed and reacted fine for me.The video output seems to be 720p, but I was fine with it. Yes, it's not as crisp as 1080p, but I think it's a good compromise between modern, sharp displays and the artistic softness the game artists had to take into account for the CRT displays originally used. Keep in mind this system is not meant for enthusiasts of pixel perfection - it's for a broader audience who just wants a plug-and-play system.I received the most recent v1.1 system when I originally bought the RetroCade. v1.1 removes the arcade version of Cobra Command, but replaces it with other games, including two R-Type games. I think that was a more than acceptable trade. The Save and Load game states function is a lifesaver. Sometimes life happens and it's great to know you can save your game state to reload for later. There are two unfortunate downsides to this particular item, and they may or may not influence your purchase decision:1) Audio lag - I didn't play everything, but I did play some arcade games and some NES classics. The sound was off by a few milliseconds in games like Mega Man 2 and Bionic Commando (NES). The "bidip" sound Mega Man makes when landing from a jump and his "pew pew pew" blaster shots were definitely delayed. The grappling sound of the bionic arm in Bionic Commando (NES) were also delayed by the same amount of time. I will say that I'd much rather have sound delay than input delay, and the delay here was comparable to the audio delay in the Sega Genesis Mini. It wasn't necessarily enough delay to make me want to return the RetroCade based on the audio lag, but it's worth noting.2) MISSING CARRYING CASE (TWICE) - My reason for returning the system and the 3-star review. The listing by the seller clearly mentions a Retro-Bit carrying case included in this RetroCade bundle. Unfortunately, both my original order AND the replacement did not include the case. This is genuinely frustrating as the case is clearly listed in the product description. Don't expect this order to come with the case; there is already another buyer who left feedback that the carrying case was missing from their order, too. Yes, I did reach out to the seller, but they could not provide a partial refund nor could they send me just the case. I was directed to go back to Amazon support for a replacement order (which was also missing the case). Conclusion: As of this writing, the set's price is $65 for the RetroCade and case. Even without the case, $65 roughly the going price for the system alone these days. If you don't mind not having the case, then I think it's still a solid value for a solid plug-and-play system. However, I have given 5-star reviews to past Amazon orders that had understandable shipping issues. Unfortunately, I could not bring myself to give a higher rating for this due to the misleading listing and inability for the seller to send me the missing case. I'm buying the case and system separately elsewhere. It will cost me slightly more, but at least the listings will be correct.
