Positive Grid Spark Control X Wireless Footswitch Pedal & Controller for Spark Series Amps

I have a Spark 2 amp.So to get it set-up is a bit of a trouble but nothing show stopping. You have to use the App, Fun fact is that if you use the App on your phone and ALSO on an iPad you have to transfer tone to the cloud in order to share them. It just does not magically happen. When setting up the Spark X just have some patience and you will get it. Also they made it really hard to easily see the On/Off and Bluetooth connect buttons on the back of the unit. The On/Off is recessed too making it more difficult to find and use. I know you just have to get used to it but let's make it easy and obvious.I have an Expression Pedal from Boss that I used with my Katana 100 and it works with the Spark X! I use it as a volume pedal which is a must actually for live playing.The Spark X toggles thru each A and B banks, selects one of the four presets AND lets you toggle thru each 'stomp box' for each preset. It is really nice and works. You may have to look at your phone to watch the toggling action to keep track of where you are. There are also those plastic covers which help.It takes about a day or more to fully charge when you get it at first. If you are going to play somewhere it is best to recharge the night before.I really like the footprint of it. Very compact and even with size 13 shoes you can press the buttons. For my set-up I basically only have 2 presets that I use - even though you can have 8 of them.You cannot tell which preset you are on though. Use the B button to move thru presets, but you have to reference your app to know where you are aside from hearing it. The A button toggles thru the first 4 presets and the second set of presets.For the Spark 2 to get it going after setup you have to turn on Spark 2, turn on Spark X, long press Spark 2 Bluetooth button, then load the app on your phone/ipad.A bit expensive but it seems to be worth the cost. Glad I have it.

I almost didn't purchase the Spark x control due to the negative reviews. Glad I did. I think many didn’t read or understand the instructions. Spark x DOES connect to my Spark 2 without the app easily. If you use the app, you have more options to program Spark x. Using Spark 2 without having Spark x control is annoying. My only complaint so far is the price. Charge Spark x fully (overnight) before using and after turning on connect to app and update firmware, which was easy and wireless. Using Spark x, in my opinion, is mandatory to enjoy the Spark 2 experience. I used my Android phone which was flawless. After I try my iPad, I will update my review.

The latency on this pedal when pressing the buttons to change channels is incredibly obvious. I wish they just said there’s latency and also provided a wired version option because I would have bought the wired version. The latency is enough that if you’re gonna switch from rhythm to lead and you’re in tempo on a song you’re going to be off every time. I was and i have very good timing. I tried it with both my spark mini and spark go. If it said there was latency in the product description I would not have bought it. I returned it and I’m gonna try the control pedal because there seems to be less latency with that one, when compared to the control X, but I will find out when I get it. If you’re just fooling around in the living room and you’re not worried about timing, this pedal will work. If i’m recording or playing live stream or doing a video for TikTok, I can’t use it because the delay between buttons is enough that I would not be in time with the songs i write. I updated all the firmware on the spark go and the spark mini before I tried to use the control X. So in short, I would only recommend it for someone wanting to fool around at home, but in that case, you could just reach your hand over and press the channel switcher on the amp. I’m not sure who the intended audience was for this pedal, but it certainly was not for anybody Who’s doing anything live whether it be live or to post to social media or recording live, etc. because the latency makes this not possible to play in time/beat/measure. Also, this pedal description says it’s for wahwah, but it only includes wahwah if you pay $20 for a Jimi Hendrix pedal within the app to you to be used with a separate expression pedal. This is very misleading, so there is no wahwah effect to use for the expression pedal input unless you buy the Jimi Hendrix pack within the app.

The Spark Controller is a wonderfully built pedal. I had a bit of a hard time trying to figure out how to switch the presets to the looper functionality, but overall, I value the wireless functionality and versatility this brings to my Spark 2 for practice. I have a full pedalboard that I use for more professional settings, so I mainly bought this so I didn't have to switch things in the app on my phone as much.

This little pedal works just right, but I think it works better on carpet tho. I don't have any in my space, can feel the pedal slips a little. I will stick some rubber feet maybe.

Built solid and sturdy to last a long time. I use it with my spark 40 amp. It is fun to use and makes switching patches very easy. The Buttons are programable through the app and I also connected an expression pedal for volume control. My only dislike is you have to use the app to connect it. I think the spark live and Spark2 are the only amps it will connect to without the app.

Paring with a Spark 2 is difficult. The lights on the foot switch sometimes malfunction and requires a full reset. Probably not gig worthy for me
