Q: What is the weight limit for the unit? I'm looking to store detergents and cleaning products, etc.

I reviewed the description again and didn't see where a weight limit is issued. I purchased this to store folded t-shirts, socks and misc light weight items. Personally. I would not recommend storing heavy detergent containers in it. A shelf might be a better, more stable fit.

Q: Is there a way to have 4 sturdy hooks instead of 2?

There are extra hooks in the package.

Q: Does the total height include the hanging hooks?

Yes, the total height of the organizer with 5 baskets is 47 inches. It's not real obvious but one image online shows the total height.
