This set of woodcarving tools is billed as being appropriate for beginners. That made me worry that it might not be high-quality. And while it isn’t anywhere near the level of fit and finish you’d get with a very expensive set of tools, it is surprisingly good and provides excellent value for money.The tools arrived reasonably sharp. Not a razor edge by any means, but definitely good enough to make smooth cuts in softwoods. (I haven’t tried them on hardwoods yet.) It includes s a nice variety of sizes and shapes to let you make a fairly wide range of cuts. I haven’t put all the tools through their paces yet, but I’ve been pretty impressed with the ones I have tried.The included mallet is small, but has a nice heft. I’ve always been partial to hammer-shaped mallets in the past, but I actually like this cylindrical mallet more than I thought I would.The only real complaint I have is with the quality of the case. It’s very plasticky fake leather, and I would’ve rather have seen the manufacturer use canvas instead. That being said, the case does protect the tools and hold them securely, keeping them all together, so you don’t lose any components. I’ll definitely continue using it, despite the cheap feel of it. Ultimately, this is a very minor quibble, since the tools are good, and nobody orders tools just to get a good case.The bottom line: I can confidently recommend this set of woodcarving tools.

I've been carving now for about 8 years and I use only high end knives and tooling. Fordom for my power carvers and Custom made knives....So I was curious about this kit when I saw it as I have a nephew that wants to join me in carving and This is the PERFECT starter kit for him.EDIT -- I tried the kit today myself and WOW!! First off - the presentation of the kit is FIRST CLASS!! From the leather case to the strap to carry it with, the tools protected with their own form fitting end piece, the leather pouch with the mall is perfectly weighted for anyone...Well Done People -- VERY WELL DONE!!!!!The tools are super sharp and easily handled and managed to either hog out or delicately detail....I am going to get me one of these for myself to have in my vehicle always so I can carve anytime - anywhere!!!! Super SUPER Impressed with this set!!!!Two Thumbs Up -- VERY Highly Recommend Buy it!!

I received my new chisel set today, and I am extremely disappointed. It is advertised as being a leather case, but it is just cheap vinyl. The chisels are very dull out of the box with a couple of them having large burrs on the edge. Cheaply made. The only thing I like about the entire set is the mallet that came with it. I am considering sending them back and trying a more expensive set. Don’t waste your money.

I'm just getting into woodworking, so I'm not an expert in these kinds of tools. However, I can tell you that a lot of care went into designing this product. The tools feel strong and very sharp. The case is really nice, almost like real leather, and each tool has a specifically designed slot and strap to hold it.I can't wait to learn how to carve using these! It comes with basic instructions on what to use each tool for.

The quality of these chisels is apparent the first time they touch wood. The sharpness easily cuts into wood, and the metal is quality so I imagine they will have excellent edge hold. Their comfortable to use with the hammer device that's included. The value for the money is insane, especially if you catch a sale.
