Purelite Clip-on Magnifying Lamp

I’ve had the light since August, it’s now October and I’ve had to change the batteries twice in that time.The light and magnifier are spot on but when it comes time to replace the batteries, even with brand name Duracell ones, they don’t fit as tightly as the ones that came with the light. You therefore have to hold them in place by manoeuvring the ribbon that is attached to the compartment into a position that can hold the batteries but not obstruct the terminals.Also the catch that is used to clip the cover back in place is flimsy and mine as now snapped off, leaving me with no choice but to try and hold it in place with sticky tape.If it wasn’t for this I would have given it 5 stars and be happy to recommend to others, but for the price I would advise to look around for something better.

This light is beautiful. The magnifying glass is clear and effective, and the 'mega magnifying' section is brilliant. It's beautifully made, and I wish I'd bought one years ago! The LED bulbs give out just the right amount of light, and are as close to natural daylight as I've seen - no colour distortion. I use it for embroidery, which I've either had to stop working on once the light's faded, or sit with a cumbersome lamp poking over my shoulder, so this wonderful creature has changed my life! The clip is strong and clings on to the embroidery hoop for dear life. Nice little touch: the number of the battery cell is printed on the battery compartment lid. Love it!UPDATE: Beautiful light, but gets through batteries for fun. A set of 3 batteries lasts a matter of hours, and at about 50p a battery this could become an expensive accessory. Hence downgrading it from 5 stars to 3.FURTHER UPDATE: The last set of batteries I put in lasted minutes before the light dimmed to an unusable level, so I've returned the unit and bought another one from Amazon which runs off 2 x AAA batteries. Now downgraded to 1 star!

I bought this to use for cross-stitching. It's heavier that I thought, (though I could clip it onto my clothing) - however a good strong spring clip, allows it to clip onto the hoop/frame Good sized magnifier and mini magnifier on part of the lens. It gives a good natural light. It is allowing my to easy do cross stitching into the evenings. The only think that it annoys me with it, is there is a little screw where the clip and flexi arm joins, and it loosens if moving the arms about, so you have to really tighten it, which is awkward. Other than that a really great sewing/craft light.

Have used this light over a few weeks now and have gone through batteries by the dozens. Even the supposedly longer lasting batteries only last a matter of a couple of hours. It is also quite heavy for working on cross stitch and the screw keeps working loose when moving the magnifier. Not the good purchase I thought it was going to be.
