Had the R3 for 1 year now. K band is the frequency that the newer cars use for adaptive cruise control and collision alerts, so if you get hit with K wide open and it quickly goes away, that is probably what it is 29 out of 30 times. There is an adjustment you can make to the sensitivity of each band, so my K is turned down to 20% to make the false alarms a lot less frequent.Ka is spot on and usually good for 1-2 miles from the gun. I’ve had laser go off twice and you better be ready to get in the brakes you will have just a few seconds. The display is OLED, so it might burn in if you have it on the highest setting.Take the time to set it up and get familiar with the settings and the use of the button on the 12V power plug and you’ll enjoy it.

This is the best radar detector I have bought. It has a super long range. Sometimes it will go off and it takes what seems like forever, maybe a couple miles until I finally see the cop taking radar. At first I thought it was giving me bad warnings but it's just that the range is incredibly long! It has saved me so much. money in tickets. Totally recommend. And get it hard wired to your car. You won't regret it.

Watch out as Cops turn on and off their Radar. Nonetheless this was the best two-hundred something I've ever spent. It works well and is indeed long range. Easily adjustable. The laser and red-light camera detection are nice. Turn off the K and X bands for reduced false-positives. Cool features include variety of color and display modes like a sinusoid wave, directionality (N-S-E-W), and quiet mode. Must purchase if you exceed speed limits regularly.

I absolutely love the Uniden R3 EXTREME LONG RANGE Laser/Radar Detector. The performance is incredible—it’s extremely accurate, and I’ve been impressed with how well it detects signals from a long distance. My friends are blown away by its reliability and precision. I run it in city mode, and it seems to give the best results in that setting. Its just okay. I have the R7 and needed another one so I purchased this model based on all the great reviews. I would suggest saving a little more and going with the R7. This unit works but goes off for every little thing and becomes annoying, for me the R7 was a lot more accurate especially when driving around town. I would have returned it if I didn't throw away the box. Again, the unit is good but but not great.

It's one of the most well rounded detectors, an easy recommendation to make to anyone, and the baseline that every detector strives to meet. If you're looking at a cheaper detector, it is better to just save a bit more and get this one instead.Range: The R3 has some of the best range out of all detectors, competing against even high end detectors that cost $400-$500, and sometimes even custom installed systems. In tough terrains, worst case scenarios, it can still give up to almost half a mile of range (up to a few miles on open roads). Way more than enough time to react to the alerts.Filtering: Unlike cheap detectors that will randomly alert to radar signals that’s not the police, this detector gets rid of most false alerts that are emitted by moving cars. Its mute memory feature works flawlessly on stronger convenience store doors, keeping them locked out with GPS by double clicking the mute button. On Ka, the most dangerous signal, the R3 always alerts authentically without fail so you can fully trust and rely on it. Although heavy filtering slows down detection on K band, it can be customized to trade sensitivity for a bit more false alerts depending on your style.Responsiveness: The R3 will alert you at speeds faster than half a second to ensure you are alerted as fast as possible to possible signals. This is especially important to give you as much time as it can to react to alerts and in some cases when you only get a small blip of detection.Sound: Strong, loud, and clear beeps to alert you initially and can even automatically tone itself down while giving you the signal ramp up. The speed at which the beep plays consistently increases and accurately reflects the strength of the signal you get hit with.Compact size: The R3 has a stealthy compact size that makes it easy to fit anywhere in all types of cars, keeping it hidden while still keeping a nice aesthetic. The mute button is also comfortably placed on the front of the detector in the most optimal spots.Programmability: Custom options are easy to program to tailor the detector to how you drive and what area you drive in to max out performance against specifically what your trip requires.Future proof: Uniden is incredible with providing updates to the detector to ensure its databases are always up to date and new features are pushed so it keeps up with other detectors despite being out for so long. I travel extensive to work all over the county. I am a Experienced driving with radar detectors and this unit warns you enough time to slow down. It can detect radar on both sides of highways and in front of and behind you. I usually slow down when the two yellow warnings turn into three.... which turns into red warning lights on your radar LED's.

I like this radar detector. It is very sensitive, much better than a cheaper detector I also bought at the same time. The GPS speedometer also works well. I just starting using it and am still figuring it out, but its a great detector so far.
