Color:Black  |  Style:Ratchet Suspension Gateway Safety Serpent, Class C high-density polyethylene safety helmet is a durable, vented hard hat that is ideal for hot or humid work environments. The sleek, attractive style of the Serpent safety helmet will lure you in, but won’t turn you into stone. Serpent protects against the most threatening of hazards, and has been independently tested to meet and exceed the ANSI Z89. 1 standard to prove it. It may not turn victims into stone, but Serpent will work powerfully to defend against head injuries. Rotating ratchet adjustment system helps keep the helmet securely in place. Workers will be compelled to keep Serpent on because of its many comfort features, including an eight- point, six-strap suspension, a soft cloth brow pad that absorbs moisture, and an ultra-light weight of just 13 ounces. Vented shell allows heat to escape, keeping workers cooler on the jobsite.

Causes job-site envy!
I was given a cheap-o yellow hard hat when I started my first construction job a few weeks ago. I knew I had to have a pink one and took a chance with this one though some reviews didn't like the color. I'm glad I did. It's a nice pink, a pretty pink. Not too in-your-face but definitely gets noticed on the job. Being short and the only girl also gets me noticed. Some of the guys tease me but in a fun way that "the pink hard hat" gets sh-- done. Today it got me the combination code to the foreman's locked, private port-a-john (the magical toilet that no one else gets to use). It has saved my head numerous times in the last two weeks, I'm forever bumping my head on rafters and skyjack railings. The vents are fantastic. I sweat from my head and have been working up in the ceilings and the vents do help compared to my non-vented co-workers. My only complaints are that it sits high on my head and I wish I could tighten it a little more. I wear a fabric headband to absorb sweat that helps it fit better (I have a small head). This hard hat also has a black terry cloth forehead liner. It's so nice a co-worker tried mine on and asked/paid me to order him one in grey.

Disappointed
A little disappointed in the design because it sits much too high on the head, offering little protection; and the sides of the suspension are VERY visible. I get that it's only rated for Type 1, C class....but, it wouldn't take much of a redesign to protect the head a bit more. Type 1, C class protects the user from a blow to the top (crown) of head only. Type 2 offers protection from blows to the top and sides. Type 1 hard hats that I have had in the past, fit lower on the head, still offering a suspension that has a gap so the head does not come in contact with the shell, yet still covering parts of the top side of the head, just above the ear. Though not rated as a Type 2, other hard hats that I have owned still offered some protection to the side of the head from bumps. But, this hard hat is suspended so high that it just covers the top crown, offering protection just to the top center of the head, but no bump protection even to the top side of the head. That being said there are some good features to the design.PROS:• Air vent holes are designed better than most others I've seen, as it would be difficult for rain to naturally seep in.• The design of the ratchet 6 point suspension is easy to use and remove from shell and reverse to wear with the bill in the rear.• It's comfortable.CONS:• Offers very little protection because of how high it sits on the head. (Note: the suspension tabs are adjustable, but the maximum height adjustment is only about 1 cm., which is not enough to lower its fit, to offer a bit more head protection).• The plastic sides of framework of the suspension are very visible when the individual is wearing the hard hat. It just looks a bit odd. Perhaps if it was made in the same color of the hat or even black for the darker colors and white or beige for the lighter colors. Mine was dark forest green and it came with light beige suspension frame. (note to the manufacturer: another redesign thought might be to rework the actual shell, making it a bit longer at the sides and rear, which could cover the sides, at the bottom of the plastic side pieces of the suspension framework. This would offer a bit more side and rear protection from bumps).

This hard hat is awesome! I have a fairly large head
I bought this hard hat to wear at home! I do a lot of "assisting " on projects around our home, and tend to end up on the bottom of a ladder or either I am climbing on scaffolding to work on various things, so I inevitably end up having things fall on me! Nails, loose pieces of wood, ect so I decided I wanted to protect myself. This hard hat is awesome! I have a fairly large head, for a woman, add thick hair and finding any type of hat to fit correctly is a difficult task! However, the adjustable band in this hard hat, made adjusting and fitting my head very easy. Just turn the tension knob in the back and there ya go! The vents keep my head from perspiring so much, if I do perspire the absorption band in the front soaks it up.. I would definitely recommend this hard hat to anyone, and would buy again should I need too! Thanks for a great product!

Baseball Hat Comfortable Except.....
The ratchet area in the back is huge and rubs against my ears. Other than that I like how it feels and looks. It's light weight feeling, well balanced and stays put when bending over, without having to crank the tension down to brain squeezing like with many other styles. I glued some googly eyes on the back because the center back area looks like the nose in the old "Kilroy was here" drawings from years back. Looks pretty "Baby Bat Kite" looking from a distance since I got a black one.If you've got a big head this is for you but if you've got a normal to small head you might find the racket area in the back uncomfortable. I got used to it in a couple of hours as it just barely touches the back of my right ear. The venting works very nicely but it does whistle a little in 15+mph winds.

Sits really high on head. Doesnt cover sides.
Nice quality but like in other reviews, its sits really high up on your head and doesnt cover the side of your head at all. I ended up just giving it away to some random worker I didnt know because its just not the protection I need. Luckily I bought 2 diffrent brands of hard hat and the other brand sat on head just right.

Quality hard
I have Worn this about a month, I do think the 6 point suspension in more comfortable on your head than a 4 point.Like other reviews have said, this hat does set high on your head, which takes a bit of getting use to. I have yet to have anything dropped on it, while wearing burn inwould assume the 6 point suspension will come in handy at that point also.

the insert for this hard hat is so much more comfortable than the standard inserts i've had in other hard hats. it's a combination of two features. first, the strategically placed padding adds comfort without adding too much all the way around to make your head sweaty. second, the pivoting rear piece allows the hat to fall comfortably onto any head shape or size. the venting is nice too in the summer sun. it lets loose the trapped heat coming off of your head.

high end helmet
Bought this for my cousin, he recently told me it's a great helmet. As describe, his head is cooler than usual. Compared to other hard hats, 5his I the best he has ever had, also his favorite colour is green. This is a great buy!
