It gets the job done, and I guess for the price it's ok. I don't know that I'd say it's really 5x. Doesn't seem that strong. And the quality of the lens isn't the greatest. It has a bit of chromatic aberration which makes it seem not-quite-sharp.The light is bright enough to be useful, but don't expect to get a sun tan with it. The lid for the lens seems a little flimsy. I'm not sure how long it will last. It's also a little limp when it comes to positioning the head. You have to fiddle with it a bit to point it where you want sometimes.So, yeah. It does what I need - which is giving a boost to my tired old eyes when working on electronics or other small items. It's probably a fair price for what you get. Just don't have expectations of a finely tuned precision instrument and you'll be satisfied.

This LED light works nicely. The build quality is very solid. The base attaches nicely to a table lip, and is adjustable for many thicknesses. The swing arm gives a good range of motion, and the sections of the arm are long enough to reach most everywhere I need it. The LED is bright and very stark white; I find it provides good lighting for electronics work. The magnifier works well enough. It is only a 5x magnification, so I cant expect super fine details. It would be nice to see a version with variable zoom (maybe with two lenses, or a smaller dot that does 10x). The dust cover is a handy addition, and keeps the lens clean, and makes it look nicer when being used as just a lamp. Aging the light works “ok”. The lamp is attached to a metal ball joint which gives a good range of motion.My main complaint about this lamp is that the joint where the lamp meets the arm is a bit weak. It is designed on a ratcheting system, and the screw handle seems flimsy. It was difficult to tighten it down enough that I didn’t feel like I would break it while adjusting the ball joint on the light.

LED brightness is very good, magnification is excellent. However, the screws you have to tighten to hold the arm in place is sub-par and will not hold arm in place regardless of how tight you attempt to get it - the receiving end spins in place. I'm looking to replace with a fluted knob with a lock washer and nut or another method to reach the appropriate clamping force. Just an FYI to those who are looking to buy. Excellent item otherwise for even soldering SMD components.

I read some reviews on this magnifying lamp before I bought it and there were a few bad reviews in the mix . To those people that gave the bad reviews , I say “ Hog Wash “ . This lamp is great . Great range of motion, really bright light and the magnification is great for the meticulous job of tying very small flies for trout fishing . Great lamp . I would definitely recommend this lamp to anyone that is working with small objects.

I've always used this type of light w / magnifying lens for work and now at home , this one is one of the best if not the best I have ever used . Only thing I thought just 4 star would be the cost { kinda pricey }

Paper work , Writing lyrics and music . NotTo mention H P Lovecrat , Stephen King ,And many others are as enjoyed now , as back in in mid 80's & 90's . Can't say that about filing ah , Taxes . The adjustability isAllows Comfort, The Magnification lense & Light make easier work for my aging eyes .THANKS

The Light and magnifier work great but the arm mechanism is wobbly and sloppy. I was hoping it would have been a nice solid, accurate and fluid setup. The ball mount on the head where the magnifier and light mount to the arm is sloppy and doesn’t hold. The base mount where the arm slides into the clamp is very wobbly not a smooth when maneuvering. I am disappointed but not surprised considering the manufacturer and price point.

After setting up the light I came back here to see if I missed something in the reviews. I usually start at the bottom to see if there is anything credible and compare with over the top reviews.Unlike other reviewers, I'm OK with the magnifying glass, in fact that's the only reason I'm keeping it. I don't have a problem with the arm or head staying in place and the arm and mount seem to be of fair quality.My disapproval is the extremely poor quality ball joint where the light attaches to the arm. If I want to pivot the head or move it at all, I've found that I need to firmly grip the arm where the adjustment nut is and then twist the light with the handle at the end of the light. I've learned to take these precautions otherwise moving the light head would damage the arm.
