One improvement recommended but best, to me, among all power switches
I checked probably all alternative products on Amazon. They can be categorized into three types:(1) keyboard key type (like one or two keys taken from a keyboard), (2) normal press-switch with wide base (this product belongs to it) (3) multiple-function tiny station (includes USB, etc.).I chose type (2) since (1) seems unstable on the desk and the touch is not like of normal switch, type (3) is ruled outbecause they have unnecessary functions. Among the alternatives in category (2), I chose this because it did not have reviews that refer to poor quality or light is too dim. After using this for several weeks, I noticed: (1) the power indicator light, whose color is blue, is bright enough andcovered with a nice waving surface translucent plastic. (2) hard drive activity light whose color is red, is also under the same translucent cover and still conspicuous enough (Note: it is not the red patches around the base shown in the product photo). (3) feeling of pressing the switch is OK for this price (4) the base is big enough and stable which I like most. (5) No problem in switching and indicating the status of the power and the drive activity.Overall this is a good product. One minor problem is the length of the cable. I am using a sit-stand desk which changesthe distance between the switch and the computer. In the sitting mode the code is long enough but in the standing mode it is close to the limit. If I change the height of the standing mode, its length may not be acceptable.I recommend the vendor that they use a cable which is one foot longer than the current one for wider acceptability.

Still works years later!
Factory button stopped working. This works great! Same functionality, led for power and HDI Bought the same one a few years ago and it still works. Because it has a cord I'm able to put my tower under my desk but have the power button under my monitor's power button.

Hard Drive Light Blinking
Great Product and works great with my Wall Mounted PC. Put the Button on the Desk in front of Me and the Flashing Blue Light was very distracting. I like the Button on the Desk so pulled the hard drive plug and hooked the case light back up. The Switch still has the power blue light on and looks nice without the blinking HD Light. A clear flip up Button cover would be nice and may make one up for the button. All in all the Button looks and works great. Also the Reset button is just on the lip and hard to push in by accident. The Cord for the button is more than long enough for a large setup.

Have some black paint handy!
4 stars for now since I haven't installed it yet. Had to go buy a can of black spray paint as the mounting bracket for the unit is just bare aluminum while everything else is a nice black color. Overall the unit looks great and the power button has a nice solid click to it so after I get it installed and use it for a while I will come back and update this review.UPDATE: Ok, within the last week I finally got my new PC put together enough for a trial run and hooked this item up and it worked great. When I was finished for the day I left it hooked up and put the power button assembly inside the case and the next day when I went to turn it all back on to get into the bios all of a sudden the power switch itself would not work. All the other functions of the unit are working except for the power button. I then got my mother board manual and re-read the hook up sequence and re-installed the connectors as per the book making sure the power and grounds are in order but the main power function is still not working. Will contact the seller and see what can be done as it is a neat little item and I hope they can solve the problem. Will update further on the progress of this situation.

Great, stylish switch for a low price
I got this switch so that I can easily turn my computer on without having to go under my desk.In addition to the switch, the package came with:* A 3M sticker adhesive to attach the switch to my desk* A silver PCI cover + a screw. This cover has a hole in it that allows you to wire the switch into your desktop without having to have a PCI cover completely taken out. It's a simple enough switch: there is a power and a reset button. It plugs into the front panel connectors of the motherboard. Each connector (power / reset / LEDs) is labelled and is easy to attach. The button has blue LEDs, but if you don't want them to turn on like I don't, you can simply leave the LED connectors disconnected from the motherboard.

Tough to Install, Works Once You Get It
Tough to Install, Works Once You Get ItThis power button extension does what it says, but installation isn’t as straightforward as I expected. The wires aren’t labeled clearly, and the instructions are minimal, so it took some trial and error to figure out which header pins to connect on the motherboard. I eventually got it working, but it would be frustrating for someone who isn’t already familiar with PC builds.Once connected, the button itself works fine—responsive clicks for power, reset, and HDD activity. The cable length is generous, and the unit feels decently sturdy. Just know that the learning curve is steeper than it should be for what seems like a simple accessory.Bottom line: A functional solution for relocating your PC power/reset buttons, but not plug-and-play—be prepared for a fiddly installation.
