It works !!
We have acquired a male cat that has been hanging around our back yard. Our cat, a neutered female had been meowing loudly day and night for about 10 days.I saw this product on Amazon and decided to give it a try. It’s Great ! Our cat has calmed down and sleeps all night with some meowing during the day, which we can tolerate. We just put in her food and she mellows out in a short time. Wonderful product and would recommend to everyone.

A little goes a long way.
This product was recommended to us from the University of Georgia veterinarian hospital. We use it anytime our small Maltipoo gets bitten by a bug out in the yard. We only give her one capsule sprinkled over her favorite treat or food and it does the trick. It usually takes about 15 minutes for her full effect. It makes her very calm and eases any pain that she may have from a bug bite. It's super easy to use you just simply open the capsule and sprinkle the powder on your pet's favorite food so there's no trying to force a dog to take a pill which is always fun. Our dogs, thankfully, didn't have a reaction to it. No diarrhea or vomiting after taking this supplement. However, you need to talk to your vet before you use it for your dog.

Effective for mild anxiety, not so much for moderate/severe anxiety
I've been pretty happy with Zylkene! I ordered it for two of my anxious senior dogs. It did not work for one of them, but his issues seem to run deeper and he's required something a bit stronger from the vet. For my chihuahua, though, she would tumble every time we ran the dryer before we started her on Zylkene. Since it's a capsule, I just open it and sprinkle it on her food each morning, and it takes the edge off enough that she no longer has issues when we run the dryer.

Decent product but the constant price increases force me to look for alternatives
I have a small terrier with allergies and anxiety. For her to be happy, I have to manage both. This product does a good job of relaxing her, though it is not the only thing I use. I do notice when I stop using it she is antsier, so I have chosen to continue the product. But the price continues to increase from expensive to untenable. I looked around for alternatives. The active ingredient is called Alpha-Casozepine, according to the label. So, in looking for products with this, it turns out that Lactium is a trademarked version of this. It was difficult to find a product with this alone. Ultimately, I found a Swanson Antistress human product that contained only this as an active ingredient. There are other products that have this ingredient along with other things that I didn't want. I'll see how this new product works once I receive it.Interestingly, Calmkeen, a product that markets itself as similar, has hydrolyzed milk protein as the active ingredient, but it does does not have the actual Alpha-Casozepine. I bought it to alternate with Zylkene, but it simply does not work as well for my dog. And the price, which is significantly cheaper than Zylkene, has continued to rise likely because Zylkene's has. Anyway, if money is no option, then Zylkene is an effective product. If you don't want to continue to pay chronic price increases, you may need to look for an alternative.

Try this first before a prescription
This works folks! It helps my baby calm down and drift off to sleep. I can tell a difference in his behavior on days that he skips a dosage.

Calming Supplement for Dogs with Depression and Behavior issues
I am fostering a Chihuahua mix that lost his pet parent. I think that he thought that I was keeping him for a few days, but when those few days turned into weeks, he became depressed and lay on the bed for three days motionless, as if he had given up on life. He started exhibiting behavioral issues, such as pacing the floor, not eating his food, whining, and excessive barking, all of which I was informed were not his normal behavior. I started him on these pills, and he came to life and was his old self the next day. I gave him a calming chew until the pills arrived, and although the calming chews helped, the pills helped him a heap more. I enjoy sharing natural pills with my dogs or dogs in my care. I have been spreading the word about these with other pet parents, and I will buy these again. It is a shame that these are only for small dogs up to 22 lbs, as there are pet parents who need them for their larger dogs.

Nuanced approach to efficacy
These did not make a significant difference for my cats, but I’m not going to give this product a bad review because I understand there are biological nuances between animals that make supplements more or less effective. What works for one cat may not work for another. It was still worth trying. I gave them a full 7 day course of the pills and it did not seem to help their anxiety or induce calmness. That being said, it mixes well with food and my cats, who are normally very picky about eating anything with supplements mixed in, ate it without hesitation. I took the capsule apart and mixed in the powder. There were no negative side effects either.
