The Polydor albums of Swedish guitarist and songwriter Yngwie Malmsteen are collected in a new four-CD box set titled Now Your Ships Are Burned, due for release in February. Studio long-players Rising Force (1984), Marching Out (1985), Trilogy (1986), Odyssey (1988) and Eclipse (1990) are all included, along with the 1989 live album Trial By Fire: Live in Leningrad. Each CD contains (approximately) two albums and all the music has been newly remastered for this release by Andy Pearce. The booklet comes with an essay by Malcolm Dome as well as full album credits for each record.

With great classic guitar laden jammin' songs like Black Star
If you are a fan of early Malmsteen only, then this four CD set is all that you need to own. With great classic guitar laden jammin' songs like Black Star, Far Beyond The Sun, Disciples of Hell, I Am A Viking, Fury, Dark Ages, Rising Force, and Riot In The Dungeon and also along with melodic soulful guitar laden ballads such as I'll See The Light Tonight, Don't Let It End, You Don't Remember, I'll Never Forget, Queen In Love, Heaven Tonight, Dreaming (Tell Me), and Making Love there is most definitely a song or ten for any fan of a great hard rock band with an outstanding guitar player. This is only the beginning of Malmsteen's career there is a lot more great albums with a lot of great songs on them that came out after the albums on this box set for you to discover and enjoy if you have not already.I am very happy with this box set especially since they added the two live versions of Far Beyond The Sun and I Am A Viking that I have waited since 1985 to hear. This four Cd box set is identical to the box sets of Y & T and The Michael Schenker Group, which if you are a fan of these two bands, you might also want to check out these two great box sets.

An Essential for Malmsteen Enjoyers
This is, without a doubt, the absolute finest compilation album I have in my collection, with a jaw dropping selection of Malmsteen's finest hours. The only real pieces of his discography I feel are missing are Magnum Opus and Fire & Ice, however their absence makes sense as they were not made with the prior label. It's got everything from Rising Force to Eclipse, with multiple live albums in between. It comes in a nice collection case, filled with various shots of Malmsteen and the band throughout the years. If you need somewhere to start with Malmsteen, this collection is perfection for that. Highly recommend.

Great collection for those who don't have the recrords - Remastering on the first 3 sound good.
These are the record to have from the man, so this is a great collection to have if your just getting into him. The rest of his records (post these) are a bit boring and same old same old to me. A couple of the records he has put out in the last 10-15 years just simply sound bad.The remastering on the first three records in this set sound really good, however on both Odyssey and Eclipse, the original CD sounds better. I don't have the live record to compare.

Great introduction to star 80's metal legend
Yngwie Malmsteen was making a name for himself on the L.A. scene, and these first albums in the mid to late 80's show his chops lived up to the hype. For someone like me who somehow missed this then, it's a great way to catch up. The sound is wonderful and the price can't be beat!

The Glory Years
This box set has excellent sound quality. The 2 bonus live tracks from 1984 make it even better. The booklet is nice with each cd in this set having a full page cover. This Japanese MARCHING OUT cover is cool. 1984 to 1990 was the best years from Malmsteen, so this set is definitely worth having
