There are so many different brands out there — how do you choose?! I bought this tool to remove a manhole cover over a sump pump in our yard. I chose it because of the double handle design, which I figured would let me use both hands—and I was right. The rubberized, large-diameter handles didn’t dig into my hands like smaller metal ones tend to do. I went with the 30" version.Our manhole cover is 30" across, made of heavy industrial-strength metal, and probably weighs close to 100 pounds. I’m 70 and not a weightlifter, but by hooking into the hole and leaning away using my body weight, I could easily lift the cover a few inches and slide it aside. Putting it back was just as easy.In the past, I’ve used a 2' length of straight water piece for this task — and it was literally a pain. Do yourself a favor and get a tool made for the job. Based on my experience, this is a much better choice than many of the competing products.

The strength and quality of this tool meets or exceeds any expectations of it. I use it daily to access handholes and it stands up to rigorous commercial use. I couldn't be happier with it.

I need these for work and couldn't lift hand hole covers without em. I have a tendency to lose these so I buy a lot of a spares and give them to other guys on the crew. Must have and this is the best one.

Decent little manhole hook. I would like the shaft to be a bit thicker as it bends fairly easy which makes removing the extra heavy ones a bit difficult. I do like that the hook is small and fits most manholes.

Strong. Did the job! Needed it to lift our septic tank lid off. And it did a great job.

This is one of the best vault/handhole lid lifter I’ve ever used. Very sturdy and it’s not a problem to lift almost any type of utility vault lid. It will work on lightweight manhole covers but is not good on the heavy duty street lids
