Q: How come my flame isnt blue it stays red and the tip get really hot?

You may have damaged your torch you have to fully open valve or you will burn out inside of torch I burnt out one befor if you read instructions it tells you to pull torch back for cooler temperatures that you will damage torch if you don’t fully open valve

Q: Is this for mapp only or could you use it with propane as well?

Works well with propane, ran out mapp and had a bottle of propane switched and kept on working.
