Worked for Laptop VGA to HDMI to DVI-D old Apple Display
This worked for my application. Dell E6520 Laptop driving 2monitors ...1 is an HDMI TV being driven off the laptop's resident HDMI connection, and the other, what I got this adapter for, is an Apple Cinema HD Display 2005 Model A1082 (ACD) with a DVI-D connector using and HDMI adapter ...being driven off the resident VGA connection!I had to finagle with it for a while, but now I am driving 2 monitors.I still have some figuring to do but perhaps this can help...- Out of the gate it did not seem to be working (no display).- At length, following the below procedure it works fine.- Caveat seems to be with the order in which I am hooking things up. Didn't work at first, then got it working, then third time not, then I set an ordered procedure. Either that OR its something to do with the power connector, which seems to fit a bit too loosely. So here's how I can reliably get it working...1) Connect ACD first to the native HDMI port and get it basically 'going' (then I utilize the Win Display->Screen Resolution Control Panel for tweaking on it).2) Move the ACD HDMI to the fully disconnected "Foinnex VGA Adapter" (FVGAA)3) Connect the FVGAA USB Power to the Laptop USB for Power4) Connect the FVGAA VGA Conn to the Laptop...The Apple Monitor should Light up with Desktop Display.5) Open the resident Intel Graphics Control Panel and begin tweaking the settings.Something along those lines. I was concerned it would not work, but it does!HTH

Easy to use
I have bought a couple different styles than this one, and I have to say this one is easy to use

Easy to connect, no setup required.
This converter was much easier to connect than an earlier version because the short extension cable allows easy access to the thumbscrews. Power is via micro USB cable connected to a USB port on my security DVR. After the HDMI output of the DVR died, I use this to convert the VGA output to HDMI for input to the security monitor.

Not good for vintage computers
Bought into connect an Atari st to my hdmi monitors. Didn’t work. The Atari st isn’t high res and works great with normal vga monitors in all three video modes (low and medium color and high black and white). This didn’t work color at all and half worked but wouldn’t sync well for b&w

It works almost as expected.
The device works almost as expected. I purchased it to connect a second external monitor to a notebook computer. The unexpected part, didn’t realize that would require power but cannot complain about the performance at all.

It works, but not well for my application (Dreamcast VGA to HDMI)
Bought this for a cheaper solution to attach my Dreamcast to an older 2005 plasma TV (problem observed on newer sets as well). There was noticable diagonal "jailbars" scrolling in background which ranged from you had to look for them to can't unsee them. The bigger problem was that the picture would be shifted either to the left or the right, but the right side would always be cut off. This was seen on all viewing modes such as 4:3, Just, and Full. Output appears to be 480p (according to a 2010 plasma) which roughly matches what you'd expect from a Dreamcast. There didn't appear to be any noticable amount of lag but I also didn't play for an extended period.Using the VGA straight to the 2010 plasma cleared up the picture shifting problem and the scrolling jailbars disappeared. Picture was sharper and colors appeared less muddy. Not unexpected, but didn't help.Perhaps it would work better at higher resolution sources, but for what I wanted it wasn't really going to cut it.Sound output worked fine.Give it a shot, if it works for your use case it is a good deal, but be ready to file a return.

FABULOUS
Had an old computer with a new monitor and had difficulty hooking them up. This took care of the issue. Thank you. Once I finally realized I needed adapter/converter I've been able to use my old computer again.
