Pretty good quality, and they make several different lengths to fit the door accordingly. These are not commercial quality locks; those cost way more. These are good for low-security areas only.The instructions are tiny and minimal. Correct, but not elaborate. It only takes a few tools to install these, but having nimble fingers and some experience with hardware is a big help. For example, the Spike Washer MUST be driven into the wood to ensure that the cylinder will not revolve after it's in. This step takes a bit of handyman finesse.By the way, even though I ordered "KEYED DIFFERENTLY," two of my locks have matching keys and key numbers. Oooops. That's OK, I will make use of them.

So some yahoo tried to pry off my locking gas cap the other day and broke it, and of course it was a couple days before my emissions test and first a "Check Gas Cap" warning came on and then a "Check Engine" light. So I had to buy a new locking gas cap, reset the dang Check Gas Cap warning by disconnecting the battery negative terminal for a couple minutes - the dealership wanted a hour's labor and a full diagnostic to reset the dang light - they suggested the warning could not be removed by disconnecting the battery, which was just more of their usual BS...and they wonder why I never go there anymore? Anyway, after I passed inspection, I decided I'd put a lock on the gas cap lid in case the fool returns for more mischief - my Ranger didn't come with one - but I could not find any Ford or after-market lock, so what the heck, I decided any cabinet lock would probably do, and it did. I could have gotten one with a shorter cylinder on retrospect, but this works. Just drilled carefully a pilot hole then used a 3/4" hole saw (which cost more than this lock!) to create the appropriate hole. Measured 2 or 3 times to be sure I'd have room and wouldn't impact the gas cap, and that the locking tab would go under the metal projection that the lid uses as a stop securely. Not too difficult really.
