Q: What are the 8 mode presets? I can not find anything online or in the instructions

It's different modes. Gives different acoustic sound. It's not necessary unless you're using a hi tech powered system that will still push give you the desired output. Other than that I just keep it on 0 so I get the real sound from the amplified system.

Q: It says range is 200 feet direct line of site. Does that mean the person using the mic must be in the same room as the receiver at all times?

Environment & antenna location always dictate this issue with my set up. I relocated the antenna using 3' jumpers to the front of my rack and improved the range to about 100' feet but if trying to go thru walls or dense crowds I had drop out on 1 or 2 of the mics. They have worked thru glass but for the most part line of site means exactly what it says.

Q: Does it come with 4 mics?

Yes, the version I ordered has 6 Mics and it came with all 6 Mics.
