Wish I Had This Decades Ago!
Most mornings, I pop out of bed before the shock comes. Mine is set at 50% and it feels like the brief pain and irritation of a non-serious bug bite or sting. I believe I have the alarm sound and vibration at 50% as well. So there’s plenty of room to step it up if I begin to slip - though I don’t see that happening! I’ve only been using it two weeks, but it’s been life changing! I use the smart alarm function that wakes you around the time you set and aims for when you’re already stirring (rather than when you are dreaming in REM sleep or comatose in Stage IV deep sleep). I believe it gauges this pretty accurately because of how easily I wake. I am getting an Oura ring in the next few days so I will soon know for certain how accurate it is! Like many in this thread, I have struggled to wake up in the morning my entire life. This is the first resource that has made me feel in control - which is such a powerful and positive feeling after feeling so damn helpless for too long! In the beginning, as I was learning how to open my app and complete my puzzles to wake up, I would end up getting shocked simply because I took too long because I was unfamiliar with the process! That was a bit frustrating! But I know the deal now. The puzzles do change from day to day so you have to think to complete them and turn the alarm off, which really does help you to feel awake. It’s nice that there’s 3 choices for waking activities: puzzles, jumping jacks, or the QR code. Again, I’m glad I can switch it up if the puzzles become ineffective. As everyone else points out, why doesn’t this watch-looking thing display the time! It would definitely make sense and doesn’t seem cost prohibitive to add! If you are someone who is struggling to get to school or work in the morning than you owe it to yourself to try this and see if it gives you back control! People say how easy it is to take off the watch and that that is a drawback of the product. I disagree. I wouldn’t want to have to wake up earlier in order to take of some confusing contraption! And, for this to work, you must be invested in wanting to wake up on time! If you aren’t, nothing will help! You couldn’t just strap it on an unwilling teenager. The watch doesn’t magically make you a morning person, but if you have the will, this is the way! I haven’t considered using it for any behavioral modifications yet. I am a smoker so maybe I’ll eventually pair a shock with having a cigarette in the future, but one thing at a time! And I do believe in using positive reinforcement wherever possible! As do the experts. The issue with using this for behavioral modification is that you have to learn to modify your behavior to incorporate this resource into shaping your behavior. It will only ever be as effective as you are. That’s why I think it’s helpful to think of it as a resource or tool. (I was a Biopsychology and Cognitive Science major at the University of Michigan and was published in the Journal of Behavioral Brain Research as an undergraduate, so I have knowledge and expertise in this area).

Works very well, and the app is amazing. Don’t know why people are rating this product badly.
Don’t know why this product has so many bad reviews, so far this thing has been very very helpful. I’m a deep sleeper, don’t wake up to alarms, but this thing has me waking up before it even zaps me now lol. (It works very well) I wake up instantly after being zapped. App is amazing don’t know why people say it’s not? Watch has cool settings like escalating alarm where it starts low zap and builds up stronger and stronger, smart alarm where if you stop moving you’ll get zapped again, puzzles/qr code to stop the watch, etc. so far 10/10 no issues.

Watch is great, app needs work.
The watch works very well and gets me up without bothering my wife. 100% what I was looking for. The app needs some improvements. I'd love to have a widget to be able to set/check the alarm time - having to open up the app each night is tedious. I also love the "wake me back up if you sense I fall asleep after silencing the alarm feature", but without the watch having a sensor to tell if it's on my wrist, often I wake up, take the watch off to get into the shower, and it's on the counter buzzing and shocking away thinking I'm asleep. So instead I have to move around for 30 min before I can take it off and shower. I wish I could scan a QR code to say "yep, I'm really and truly up, you can disable the "wake me if I fall asleep" timer now.

Unreliable junk
The media could not be loaded. It's junk. I can't figure out why this thing is so expensive because it can't be made of anything good. I have $25 Bluetooth earbuds that have better connectivity than this thing. It worked waking me up exactly one time when I managed to pair it to my phone (Pixel 6) with difficulty. This thing will constantly fail to connect until you finally get it to go through one time (on a miracle). Problem is, it constantly disconnects itself. So, every time you go to bed you have to go into the Pavlok app and re-sync the thing to get it to work. However, even if you do that you are rolling the dice that the thing won't randomly disconnect itself from your phone in the middle of the night and fail to wake you up in the morning because of it. The whole point of this watch is to reliably wake up heavy sleepers and it can't even do that. It's useless without the app and it has no screen (despite it's price) so you have to rely on some light system on the side of the watch to determine what state that it is in.The connectivity of this thing is so bad that it now won't even pair to my phone at all (see video). It constantly just fails on "syncing alarms" (of which I only have one). I tried all their troubleshooting steps of forgetting the device in Bluetooth settings and trying to pair it over and over again but nothing works. I have the watch plugged in and sitting right next to my phone and this thing still can't connect. Now, imagine this thing working from over 10 feet away (not happening). I can't think that my phone is the problem as I have several other Bluetooth devices connected to it without any issues (a galaxy watch, Anker Bluetooth earbuds, and Razer Bluetooth headphones).I would give it a higher star rating because it isn't uncomfortable to wear and it can shock you to wake you up however since it can't even perform the one basic function it was created for I can't give it anything other than one star.I'm going to try to return it as it's junk that can't be relied on. It's basically useless at this point since it can't pair with the app on my phone. I'd rather it not end up in a landfill or worse in the ocean where it chokes out some poor sea turtle, but honestly, I don't think it could even manage to do that right.
