Catit Large Hooded Grey Litter Box with Airsift Filter System

I invested in a slightly more "sophisticated" cat toilet for my moggy, as she was a dab hand at either flinging copious amounts of cat litter out of the box after going in it or, in the worst cases, missing the box alltogether (a trifle messy!!). In addition to this, we recently moved house and now have to have the cat litter box in the kitchen (I know, not ideal).I was really impressed with the Catit Style Hooded Cat Litter Tray. The delivery was really prompt and I was pleased with the quality of the product. It was sufficently packaged and there were instructions for putting the box together attached to the lid.It's really easy to put together... just put the lid on, fasten the sliding catches (though this is not necessarily a must if you do not plan to lift the litter tray by the handle and move it somewhere else) and then fill with cat litter.There is a transparent cat flap that allows the cats to get in and out of the box easily - and gives them some privacy (which is important to my cat). If your cat doesn't like this feature, you simply flip the lid up onto the top of the box - so the entrance is clear, but the cat still has privacy provided by the roof.It is a good sized litter tray. Millie weighs about 5kg and is quite fluffy and she has plenty of room to move about in the box/tray.Cleaning out the litter tray is easy too. I don't use tray liners, but clean out the tray 1-2 times a day. I hook a plastic bag into the little "catches" at the front of the tray (bottom section). They bag stays open and in place - so you don't end up with dirty litter all over the floor. Clumping litter is brilliant and works well in the litter tray.All in all... a great purchase and fantastic value for money. 5/5 from all the family, 2-legged and 4-legged. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a low odour litter tray for a cat who likes to throw litter out of the box.

A nice sized Litter Box for a small cat but not a larger variety like a Rag Doll or Maine Coon. Nice design but lid a bit flimsy and it wants some getting used to aligning te box with the fastening when you’ve taken the lid off the box to clean litter. It would be better if lid was a bit more sturdy than the present manufacture because it took me several attempts to get both sides closed

delivered promptly and well packaged. on assembling it, i felt the bottom tray was rather flimsy; but when filled with a few inches of cat litter, it was fine. it's a BIG box - both in width and height - and that's good for cats, who like to turn round a bit when they're covering their poo up. pale grey and white: nice neutral pale colours. it has a ledge (part of the base) just inside the door end, extending an inch or two into the box itself, and this has rather a sharp edge. however, it doesn't seem to present any problems, and in fact has stopped my cat from doing her usual thing of standing inside the box, reaching outside it and shredding the newspaper underneath. she just can't quite reach! ;-) i wasn't at all impressed with the square of black stuff (like a nylon sink scrubber) wedged into the lid. it wouldn't seem to me to be either useful as ventilation, since there's no way you could breathe through it, or as a deodoriser. as some buyers have said, it's an invitation to a curious cat: to take it apart - and my worry would be that they would catch their claws in it, and be unable to detach: could be really dangerous. remove it! and replace with a square of cardboard, or cork tile, if you don't want a hole in the lid. the sliders which hold the lid to the base are a good idea: less likely to break than the usual snap fastening flaps. not sure how much i'd trust them, if lifting the box up when it was full of cat litter, though.like any responsible cat owner, i immediately removed the plastic swing door: who wants to trap a cat inside a litter box with all that dust? no wonder some cats have lung problems. don't use the door, but stand the box so that the open end faces a wall (a foot or so out from the wall) and your dust problem will be minimal. what do you value most - your cat's lungs, or a bit of dust on surfaces, which can be easily hoovered?all in all a good large box, but with a star removed for the nasty unnecessary piece of black nylon stuff.

The media could not be loaded. UPDATE: Ordered a third one (white/grey) - door is completely faulty and cannot be fixed liked the others as it's about a 8mm too long! It's also not as pictured - different filter. So we are now having to go through the hassle of repacking, returning and buying elsewhere. So updated rating from a 3* to a 2* (it still gets two stars simply because our cats do use the first two we bought, but we should not have had to manually shave down the doors! We still can't use the filters though as cats eat them)Original: We have two of these and our 4 month old kittens both use them. We started off with the flap up while they got use to it - this was a really handy feature and also makes it easy to scoop out the mess each time. However, once we put the door down, it got stuck so they couldn’t get out! Luckily we were there to notice. The issue was that the plastic at the side hadn’t been cut down properly. Rather than return it, we used a knife sharpener to sand it down. It’s still a little stuff but they can manage. The side locks are also very stiff and hard to do up. And the black filter is open for them to chew and scratch at, which they do a lot!On the plus, the lid does lock (with effort), and the flap folds up. They’re very spacious (however that does mean using more litter) and it locks in the smell. We like that they come in three colour options too. And most importantly, our kittens both use them!!So overall, it’s a good product, but it has its flaws. If it hadn’t been for the flap getting stuck, it would’ve been 4 stars.
