MK K3192RPWHI 1.5 m Two Way Ceiling Switch

I decided I would replace ALL the sockets and switching in my house after 40 years (well, I don't rush things) as a couple started to fail, but they were a cheap brand that builder put in, and I was never happy with them from the start.I have used MK switches (these are now made by Honeywell, a well respected name in industry), plugs etc for too many years to remember now, both in industry and household situations, so when it came to replacing all the ones in the house, MK was the brand I was going to use anyway.After replacing all the mains sockets and also the lighting switches, it then came down to replacing the two Ceiling Switches I have, one in the kitchen, one in the bathroom and two in the loft space.The bathroom one had already been replaced three times over the years (just with a couple of spare ones I had laid about at the time, NOT MK though) but they never felt or sounded right, they did feel cheap to start with.The first thing I noticed was the quality of these MK switches, they looked and felt really well made, especially when I compared it to the ones I took off.Fitting was easy, it was just a matter of a straight swap,as fortunately the holes in the old ones matched up with the MK ones, making the whole job really easy.After installing them, what a difference, they gave a nice satisfying 'click' as you pulled the cord to turn them on and off, so much better then the ones they replaced.I have deliberately left doing this review for 5 months, because of comments about these failing very quickly, either jamming or one person said it shattered when trying to remove the blank, I have no idea what he used to remove the blank though, but it obviously wasn't a suitable tool (no offence to the gentleman) or he used a big hammer - a very small nail punch or centre punch and a small hammer will do the trick to start with, then you can use a pair of small pliers to remove more to open it up... I have literally fitted hundreds of this type of switch and even the cheap ones never ever have one shatter.So all four of mine are replaced, but IF they do fail at any point because of a quality issue, rest assured I will definitely add an amendment to this, but I will be VERY surprised if I will need to do that.

Perfectly adequate may sound sadly underwhelming and unimpressive but this is exactly what this switch is aiming to be. It isn’t the prettiest one on offer, it isn’t the grandest, metallic looking one, it isn’t anything out of the ordinary. However, it’s simply a good quality practical solution to suit the job.It’s got a firm ‘click-clack’ sound when used, so not necessarily suited to someone hoping to use it without disturbing others but it’s clearly aimed at a reasonable budget level and that is exactly what I needed.You will need to drill your own hole in the backplate but otherwise easy and simple to fit

Product arrived less than one hour ago and i've already installed it. I went for the slightly more expensive fitting this time, as the cheaper versions keep failing.This fitting certainly feels better quality and has a good solid 'Click' when you use it. Very simple to install. Fingers crossed that this one lasts longer than the cheaper versions have so far!

The switch is a good quality one and works well. Beware though if you have a very old original ceiling fixing as I have. The fixing bolts to attach the switch to the ceiling fixing are smaller, probably metric, so you will have to use the provided back plate making it a longer job.

Obviously safety first and isolate all the power before attempting this yourself.I was lucky and the base plate that I removed had identical screw hole locations in the ceiling, so the new one went straight in no probs. My wiring is old school red and black (with a red piece of tape around the black wire) so the red went to 'common' and the black went to L1. Only took a few minutes to do and it works perfectly now.

Needed a new pull switch as our old one had decided it was time to give up the ghost - the plastic mechanism had split inside. Was initially looking to repair the old one but then when I saw the price of a new one, especially as it is currently on offer, it wasn’t worth messing around with. Seems good quality and amazing value considering it’s delivered to your door!
