I’m a cordless believer now.
Quick update, after 5.5 years, the cannister stop has broken and the inner seal's retainers have degraded and broken. About $100 in parts to fix. Still like the Vacuum, but was expecting better engineering for high shock parts.Original Review:Just simply, wow! I was a little worried about buying yet another device with a proprietary battery, but I’m blown away.First, it is extremely light. With my corded Dyson it was a pain in the rear lugging that thing up and down the stairs all the time. With this one, it is so light that when I’m going down stairs to empty the bin, I’ll just vacuumm the heavy traffic areas on the way. No way that would have happened with my old vac.The roller (animal version) has a large diameter which means no dog hair gets wrapped around the roller. The small motor brush Does wrap hair, but it is really easy to clean. Just use a coin to unscrew the side cover and the brush twists out. Pair of sissors and you are done.I do wish that the bin was a little bigger, but it’s really easy to dump that it’s not really a big deal. The slider does a great job of pushing all the dirt and hair out (which I had doubts about when I first saw it).The battery is ok. It can do a floor of my house on a charge at the middle power setting with the motorized brush. But since I no longer have to keep moving the power cord around when vacuuming, I think it is an acceptable compromise. It’s not a big deal to do a floor one day and the other the next day or a couple of hours later.I was worried about having to replace the battery at some point, but since we expect to use it once a week, the 10 year battery expectation sounds plausible. The battery is up there in price, but not bad if only replacing once in 10 years. This vacuum has great suction. We mostly use it on medium and performs well. It also has a light mode and a “so you want this permiantely attached to the floor” mode. Seriously, high mode has quite a bit of suction and it is noticeable when pushing the motorized head. The wand has a ball on it where if you rotate the body left or right it will guide the head to the left or right, which is quite nice. The motor head is so small we can easily vacuum under the bed and cabinate overhangs. Dust bunnies were vanquished. Now price. Yeah, this is expensive. I was very happy with the quality and life of my old corded Dyson so it’s a little easier of a pill to swallow taking the excellent build into account. But yeah, pricey. If this sounds like a gushing review, well, it kinda is. It’s not very often a product exceeds my expectations; however, I suppose that at this price it should.

Great for cat hair! lightweight - great suction
I bought this after my brother bought one and was raving about it. We have all hardwood floors except for carpeted stairs. This works great. I wasn't sure how long the batter would last, so after the initial charging period, I vacuumed the whole downstairs (est 1000 SF). This took about 30 minutes. I put it back on the charger while I cleaned kitchen/bathroom etc. Then I took it upstairs and vacuumed (est 1000 SF). I put it back on the charger to clean other areas. Then I finished with the stairs. I had not issue with the battery. Since then I have not been as careful with the battery and have only had it run out after using for 45 minutes straight. I'm always using the middle level suction. For cat hair, it was fantastic in vacuuming the sofas cushions and fabric chairs. It is amazing and kinda gross to see this dust coming off of the furniture. (Dander? I'm not sure what it is, but is very fine dust). Kind of gross to think we are sitting on this and not realizing it. When we are cleaning up a lot of hair, we have to empty the cartridge more often. Very easy. I have had no issue with the suction power at all. Keep it on the middle setting.Another bonus, both of my kids use it on their rooms. I am hoping its not just a novelty to them and that they keep doing it. But it is lightweight. My wrist was sore after using it with the small animal hair extension the first time because I used poor ergonomics. Since then, I make sure to rotate hands. When I use the long extension, there has been no stress at all. Very lightweight! I have used it several times now and I love it! Well worth it.The only down side, if I can find one, is that large pieces of paper or debris are not easily picked up by the vaccuum with one quick pass. It does get sucked up, but takes an extra second or two....hard to find a downside with this one.

I use it much more often than my Dyson upright
Quick to use and it cleans well. I have a Dyson upright and the V10 Animal largely replaces it and can easily do things the upright isn't well suited for (stairs, under the bed, tight floor spaces). While the V10 is great for a room or two at a time, it won't replace a canister or upright for whole-house cleaning due to limited battery run time. The battery life is really dependent on how you use it. With a dusting brush and the suction on low you can go for a long time. With the power brush and the suction on medium you can do floors in a few rooms. If you have pet hair in your carpet you'll need the battery-eating high suction and you'll likely only get one room's carpet clean on a full charge. The dust canister is tiny compared to a Dyson upright. It's easy to accidentally overfill it (pet hair fills it quickly). When it gets overfilled (past half full), it can require pulling the canister all the way off and removing lint with your fingers. I wish the canister were a bit larger. Be aware that the lower-priced V10 Machine Head model has an even smaller canister, which I imagine would be frustrating as it wouldn't hold much. The rug/floor cleaning head is narrower than an upright so you need more passes, but it's a really versatile size and is ideal for stairs, bathrooms, the kitchen and under furniture. It works well on hardwood, tile, rug and carpet. The spinning brush doesn't collect hair but it will collect loose threads. All in all, a great cleaning tool and I'm very happy with it.
