Well structured, researched and referenced.
This is a fantastic book. It carefully goes through every aspect of ME/CFS in a very methodical manner. No assertions are made without also substantiating why that assertion has been made. It gives all the references so that you can proceed with your own research or pass it to your GP for them to follow up. When he mentions a subject that will be covered later in the book he also states that it'll be covered later thereby saving you the effort of having to note it down for later. As somebody suffering from this illness this book has been invaluable to me to allow me to manage my dealings with my GP and suggest further avenues for him to try. The book has acted as a springboard allowing me to carry out my own research and gave me a basic understanding of the medical phrases I need to look for.My only gripe with the book is that it is now out of date. It's 2011 and the 3rd Edition was published in 1999, twelve years ago. Obviously medical knowledge has progressed since then so it'd be really good to have a new edition.

Excellent compendium of the facts
Excellent compendium of the facts and realities of dealing with ME. I know some reviews have criticised this book for not offering cures but there is no proven cure and this book isn't promising miracles. It's called Living With ME and it is a knowledgeable and balanced summary of how to do that.

Liviing with M.E.
This has to be the best 1p I've ever spent. !!!!! I suffer with lots af ailments , including ME and Fibromyalgia. They aren't the same but the symptoms overlap. Dr. Shepherd , the author is himself a sufferer. So that means it does exist . Many people think that it is a mythical illness because it's mostly women that have it AND most of the doctors are male. Get the drift. Dr. Shepherd, being male and a fellow sufferer, sets out many very valuable pointers as to the what, why and when. A worthy book for all ME sufferers. Mine, at 1p, is somewhat out of date but was worth buying so I could see how good or otherwise about what was written. It's excellent so I may well buy it again in a more updated version. I'm now a member of the M.E. Association and feel their understanding and backing + this book have given me a better feeling about the world.

Living With M.E.
I bought this alongside 'Beating Chronic Fatigue' for my wife and we found conflicting information so it wasn't the greatest help although it is still very good.

Good reference book for M.E. sufferers
This is the second copy my wife has had. The first wore out through frequent reference. It is a great comfort for M.E. sufferers to be able to see that so very many health issues can be put at the door of this debilitating condition. One isn't suffering from every disease known to man, it is just yet another facet of the condition. It helps to see in print (by a doctor/fellow sufferer) that it is not a psychological condition and is not 'all in the mind'. Not sure everything written is 100% valid for all sufferers but it is a great step forward to have such a book available. I recommend it.
