A Cream to End all Creams!
Post-activity somatic discomfort has, at times, been less than harmonious. Specifically, the distal extremities and associated musculature occasionally initiate a cascade of neural signaling indicating localized distress. Historically, my mitigation strategy involved volumetric immersion in an aqueous solution supersaturated with hydrated magnesium sulfate crystals (an Epsom salt bath). While theoretically effective, this approach requires significant resource allocation (water, time, bathtub accessibility) and often results in a suboptimal post-soak state (pruney fingers, slippery bathroom floor). A more efficient, topically applied intervention was required. My search for a high-concentration, bioavailable magnesium sulfate delivery system led me to Epsom-It Soothing Nerve Lotion.Upon receipt and initial application, the formulation presented as a non-viscous, rapidly absorbing emulsion. Its tactile signature is notably greaseless, a significant functional advantage over lipid-based topical agents which can leave a persistent epidermal residue. The absence of exogenous aromatic compounds (fragrance) is also a positive attribute, preventing olfactory interference with concurrent environmental stimuli. The core mechanism of action is predicated on the transdermal delivery of magnesium ions (textMg2+) from the 25% magnesium sulfate matrix. This concentration is cited as yielding a potency factor 50 times greater than a standard bath soak, a claim analytically plausible given the vast dilution inherent in a typical bath volume relative to the localized concentration in the lotion. The rapid absorption kinetics observed upon massage into the affected tissue suggest efficient permeation through the stratum corneum, facilitating timely access to underlying neural and muscular substrates. The synergistic inclusion of Capsaicin, a vanilloid receptor agonist known to modulate nociceptive signaling, Arnica, traditionally employed for its purported anti-inflammatory properties, and Aloe Vera, providing a demulcent effect, collectively contributes to a multi-modal approach to discomfort mitigation.Subjectively, the sensation upon application is a mild, transient warmth (attributable to the Capsaicin component), followed by a palpable reduction in the perceived intensity of nerve-related discomfort. It's like the lotion sends tiny, polite scientists to the affected area to have a firm but gentle word with the overactive pain receptors. The previous erratic firing patterns seem to normalize, and muscular tension exhibits a noticeable decrease. The effect is localized and sustained, providing targeted relief without systemic impact. This targeted delivery system represents a significant improvement in operational efficiency compared to the diffuse systemic absorption achieved via balneotherapy. If your peripheral nervous system is engaging in unscheduled distress broadcasts, your muscles are staging a localized protest, and you require a high-potency, rapidly absorbed topical intervention that bypasses the logistical complexities of a traditional magnesium sulfate bath, this lotion is a highly effective solution. Its technical formulation delivers a concentrated dose of active compounds precisely where needed, resulting in demonstrable relief. My legs are calmer, my feet are happier, and I am thoroughly impressed by this sophisticated analgesic emulsion.

Mag sulfate feels smoother on my skin
For over a decade I have used magnesium chloride sprays and lotions to treat leg and foot cramps. The magnesium does help very quickly with muscle cramps, so I have no complaint there. But I have never liked the way it felt on my skin. It has to be rubbed in and both the lotion and the oil leave a nubby-feeling coating on my feet, legs and hands. Not exactly sticky, but it leaves my skin no longer smooth and slick. The skin has to be rinsed off to return to feeling normal. Then one day I was thinking back to my original magnesium product, one which is no longer on the market, the magnesium sulfate lotion made by Morton. I suddenly remembered that lotion left my skin feeling smooth, not nubby or sticky. I began to wonder if the difference in skin feel was due to a difference between the properties of magnesium chloride and magnesium sulfate. I am not a chemist so I cannot scientifically answer that question. But I can say that, for myself, switching over to gels and lotions that contain magnesium sulfate has led to a much better skin feel after application. I have replaced all of my magnesium chloride products with magnesium sulfate ones. I haven’t noticed any change in the effectiveness on muscle cramps—they’re both great. But I have noticed a big difference in the way my skin feels after using it. My perception is that there is no residue left on my skin that needs to be washed off, no stickiness, no “nubbyness”.So I am giving this Epsom-It lotion 5 stars because not only does it immediately get rid of muscle cramps, it also feels really good on my skin. I am also very happy this particular product has a higher percentage of magnesium as well. I keep a bottle of this lotion in my home, and another in my car to treat the foot cramps I sometimes get when driving.

It's ok
I purchased this with the belief that it was going to knock out pain in the area of application, I can feel the skin has been numbed but I guess our pain is skin deep and down into the muscles and I don't really feel like this did a whole lot for that, it also leaves a really thick chalky residue on top of the skin and not impressive.

This stuff works great! That’s why I ordered it again! Everything in my Amazon order was good except the delivery was thrown towards the front of my steps and by the time I got it, the whole box was soaked!
