Very helpful!
I had a messed up car outlet, that wouldn’t let my Dash Camera work properly. After using this USB attachment, it fixed the issue and my camera now works! It helped my camera charge, rather than try to connect data. This thing did the trick! Great find! Very helpful. Ingenious! Thank you!

Haven't had a chance to use it yet but will shortly. The idea is great.

It wasn't immediately clear what this thingy does...
To help those who are head-scratching on this one, I'll try to explain. I have an iPhone 5 (and this applies to any iDevice with the "lightning" plug) and when I try to charge my phone using the Apple-blessed cable that came with it, I get mixed results. If I connect to the USB port of a computer, or use the Apple AC-to-USB dealy, I'm good to go. If I try a non-Apple USB AC adapter (or the multi-plug dealy in most hotel rooms or car chargers) I get no charge. Why? Because the phone is trying to negotiate power parameters to/with the USB outlet. In the case of the computer, no worries- the communication will happen. For dumb AC sources, there is no computer or logic there to negotiate with, so no charge at all. Yes, that's pretty dumb- you'd think there'd be a fall back position that was acceptable, like only draw 1A or something if no response is received, but no.What this little doobie does is it provides the communication to smart devices so that they know they can safely draw 1A. Have a car charger that won't charge your iDevice? Plug one of these between the cable and the charger, and your iDevice will be happy. Now, why it is exactly that the car charger makers of the world don't already include this functionality is a loftier question, for which I only have cynical answers...

Does not allow an inserted device to attempt to interface
Need this so I could keep a Go-Pro charged without interfacing with my motorcycles command module. With out this device the Go-Pro freezes up because of compatibility issues. Now the USB simply charges any device.

Works perfectly. The charging works as advertised and the two data pins being disconnected are a bonus to protect your device.
Works like a charm. Those pesky PC and laptop USB ports often give me the "low power" messages, stating that my phone or tablet would charge faster if I used the OEM charger, etc. When using this adapter both my tablet and phone charge very quickly. They charge as fast as they do with the original Samsung and Kyocera chargers.Secondly, when plugging in something on the go, I've always worried about Juice Jacking. A while back, a friend had plugged in his iphone into the charger at one of those public charging stations and I was shocked to see his phone being accessed. His inbox was getting messages with ads from the local businesses in the immediate area. That scared the daylights out of him and I'm happy he plugged his in first. I regret not trying my phone to see what would happen but I digress...sorry, when you plug in this adapter you can safely use any public charging station because it uses only the charging pins. The data pins aren't used. Only the single power pin and ground pin are even connected so it just isn't possible to be, what they call, juice jacked. Someone can't upload malware onto your device through the USB connection.

Travel buddy
I cannot wait to travel and test this battery-only charger, in a world where battery + personal data are sent around a busy travel hub!

I WAS SKEPTICAL…… NOT ANY MORE!
I have an iPod Classic 120 GB that used to charge in my cars lighter/usb adapter. About a year ago, the lighter adapter broke. I replaced it at the $ store with one, but that one only seemed to charge my iPhone and not my iPod (Meaning I now had to charge my iPod at home or work via a wall outlet. Not ideal for longer car trips because the battery is old and it would die in an hour or so. Found this plugable product, read some reviews and thought I’d give it a try with minimal expectations. Plugged it in to the lighter/usb adapter and then plugged my iPod in……..my iPod can now charge in the car again. As a commuter, this is a life saver.

I hope to figure it out soon
My problem with this is it attaches between the cable and the charger. It would be a lot easier if it connected between the device to protect and the possible infective cable. If I’m using someone else’s cable and charger I’m probably not able to connect between the other person’s charger and his cable. However, between my device and their cable, no problem. Am I missing something??
