The sensor will only pick up one of the two poles of the magnet. Flip the magnet upside down and it should work fine.

Great bit of Kit

I bought this to make a counter for Crank Revolutions on my bike for training. It set up with no problems but I used a bigger magnet instead of the one supplied. Early days, but delighted so far.
