It's OK.
I haven't had it that long, but I do use it 3x per week. Seems like it's made well, but it's not very comfortable. I have trouble with my tailbone when doing sit-ups and this does help... IF... I seat myself just right. there used to be a sit up pad on ZON with a little hole where your tailbone goes, but I can't find that here any more. So I bought this. It's "OK". If you have no tailbone issues, i think it would be better than oK.

Athlos nailed it on this new abdominal training mat!
Short version of this review: JUST BUY THEM!Long version for those who absolutely need the nitty gritty.Been doing Crossfit WODs since 2009 so it's safe to say I've done a lot of sit-ups. Even strict situps with out an abdominal exercise mat. Sometimes a hundred sit-ups in one WOD for time. You may be thinking, "Hey this guy loves sit-ups, that's why he's reviewing a product for sit-ups!" Spoiler alert. I hate any kind of ab work. But hey, whether you love them or hate them it's gotta be done, right? I've done my fair share and will begrudgingly continue to do so. Reasons to have credibility to write this review established. Here's another one. Immediately after taking it out of the box, guess what I did. 100 sit-ups on this new bad boy! BOOM! I'm that serious about my gear. Compared to all the ab exercises that I've ever done on any "abmat" I have to admit that I was more pleased than displeased. I own an original Abmat and I have to say it'll be hard to choose it over the Athlos from now on.The build quality is great in my opinion. It has a premium feel and definitely is worth the investment. The padding is firm and supportive. After doing a side by side comparison with my Abmat, the Athlos wins on quality of materials used and craftsmanship. One thing that I really like about this mat is that it actually stays in place during your set. This became quickly apparent as I was plowing through the first 100 sit-ups I performed on them. Yes, I was able to plow through those sit-ups because there was less discomfort and stress on my tailbone. Well whaddya know, a product that does what it claims!Do yourself a favor and get one. They're that good. Coming from a guy that hates sit-ups that says a lot. I'm willing to bet that if you bring one of these mats to your CF box, you'll be the envy of your friends and their tailbones. Admit it, every crossfitter loves showing off their new gear. ;)

Prevents unwanted rash when doing sit ups.
Two times too many was I doing a CrossFit workout with sit-ups and gotten the abmat butt rash. This has helped tremendously and no more matt rash.

Much needed
Back problems had me to do some exercises etc. This has reasonable padding and has enabled me to do sit-ups, leg lifts etc. I recommend.

Makes situps not hurt tail bone and lower back.
This is the only such item I have bought/tested so I am not comparing it to anything. Although is seems a very obvious product to use, I wanted to see a video, which I quickly found on YouTube. Once I saw the video I bought it. Both my wife and I now use it and it makes a world of difference on tailbone pain and how easy it is to do a situps without undo back strain that accomplishes nothing. I am no big expert in these things but we know how we feel testing and using it and it does exactly what we want. If you want to get an idea of how it feels before you buy it you can make one almost with a pillow and a folded towel to approximate the shape. We are very happy with this purchase. On one last note. If you find situps hard you can get a rubber resistance band and connector that you connect to a door hinge or hook and have it help you sit up. As you get stronger you can use a weaker band or change distance to the hinge. This is the same concept gym situp machines use. This little trick can make all the difference in the world between success and giving up for some. The more we use this the more we are pleased with it. No more straining/hurting our backs and we are getting more and more situps done and doing the most good. This is no gimmick, it works and well.

Cheaply Made And Incredibly Expensive, But Works
I bought this because I do sit ups every morning, but having since moved into an apartment with all hard wood floores, I haven't been able to do it as often as I'd like. I didn't want an exercise mat to have to roll up and store all the time, and this seemed to fit the bill. It's a nice little mat - It's functional and folds up nicely when you're not using it. For my purposes, it's actually quite excellent. It does, however, feel cheaply made. It's flimsy and the material feels light and low quality. At $36, it's far too expensive. You can get abdominal mats that are exactly the same for $15 or $20, the only difference is the added cushion on this one. That cushion helps me on my hard wood floors, but in hindsight, it was a pretty expensive cushion.Get an exercise mat and the ab trainer mat if you're not like me and you do more than one exercise. $36 is far too expensive for a mediocre mat. Thus, the price and build quality each knock down a star for me.
